I purchased a Thomson Sky+ PVR3 with an 80 gig Seagate hard drive. When i set it up, I noticed that the channels had an intermittent blink, ie momentary loss of signal. It only apperared roughly every 15 seconds or so and was the same on TV and radio channels. When I pressed the Pause button, it said "SYSTEM FAULT, this service is not available please telephone ...to upgrade etc,"
When I checked the software version it was 1.80a or something like that. I knew the latest was something like 4.00, so I decided to do a housekeeping exercise on the box and clear out anything that may have been in memory, theoretically returning the drive to factory condition. I then proceeded to do a software update which started fine, but when I came back 10 mins later to check that it had completed, box was stuck in permanent standby. Now when I switch on, the disk starts up and clicks for a few moments, then alll I get is a permanently spinning hard drive and the dreaded red light. Is it a hard disk problem? Or is the whole box goosed? Seems rather premature for a newish box! Any of you Engineers out there got any ideas? many thanks for any help. |

Have a read of this one m8, and the blog entry by nicepaul that it points to at the end.
http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...hp?topic=194.0 That fixes most problems. Let us know if either of the fixes work for you. STICK
