Default How to establish where fault lies?

I have purchased this programmerhttp://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a129/obl30/3b_1_b.jpg,thinking if I ever needed to use one, this would be ideal.
Now,i 've been asked to program a* new dragon loader card, but everytime i have the same problem, the dragon loader software states that it can't connect, and that i should check programmer,or card.
the programmer has been set to 6mhz,as the instructions.
The power light is on(using a 9v dc power adapter(as per instructions)
The reset light is on.
However the read/write is not on,should this come on,once the dragon loader card has been inserted in to the programmer.
The com ports have been checked numerous times.(Both are working with other hardware).
I am using com port 1,and using a serial 9 pin cable.
All the settings in Windows xp(professional, service pack 2),are set according to the instructions.
Any ideas,where the fault lies?.
Thanks.
p.s it is described as a PHOENIX/SMARTMOUSE CARD PROGRAMMER which will PROGRAM EVERY ISO7816 SMART CARD
This programmer is useful for programming:

Titanium Card 1, 2
Platinum Card
TitanCard
KnotCard 1, 2
Opos Card (1.03, 1.05)
Dragon Loader Card
T-Rex/Firecrypt Loader Card
M2 Card
BasicCard
Penta VR3, VR5 Card
Wild Card
Dayt*** Card
Cere*** Card
Zeb** Card
Did** Card
and any other cards.

Does your programmer have a Smartmouse/Phoenix mode switch in addition to the 3.58/6.00MHz switch?

It should be set to Smartmouse mode for the Dragon loader.

Stupid question, but have you put the card in the right way round?

If so, try just pulling it out a millimeter or two.

I forgot to mention that it has jumper(s),no switches on this programmer, and yes the jumper has been set to the smartmouse position.
The card is facing down, with the contacts touching.
I'll try pulling it out as you've kindly recommended, but so far I've waggled it every which way.
Thanks.

Hi SAT-WORLD,
which Dragon Loader software are you using and have you tried loading the Load2MBfile. Is your card a PIC based F84a card or a Fun Card 7?

Hi Mickha

The card is a original F84A dragon loader card.
The dragon loader software has been downloaded from Dragonmodul.com (file version:1.0.01).
I haven't tried the Load2MB file,but I'll give it a try.
This is my first foray in to the cam and programming world,so I'm not familiar with anything yet.
Thanks

@BGonaSTICK

Tried your advice,but no luck.
Thanks.

Just had a thought.
Does the actual programmer need any drivers to work,as it didn't come with any software.
I've downloaded the Load2MB file, but how do I actually run it,using what software,as the dragon loader is showing the same error i.e not connected, and obviuosly the program card option is greyed out and not useable.
Below are the instructions for Load2MB file, but the file only contains a hex.file, how do I get this to run.

HOW TO LOAD2MB Singel pic loader (old loadercard)

Select Wafer 16f849(a) singelpic
select Pic
Select Load 2mb
Select write
Popup said finish, now your card is reddy for programming
Select phoenix 6mhz
Start dragonloader
Program your predator

Hope I'm making sense,as the instructions above can't be applied.
Thanks again.

Hi SAT-WORLD,
you usually load the Load2MB file using a normal fun card programmer, which I don't know if your programmer is capable of. Have you tried programming your Titanium card in Phoenix 3.58 Mhz, using the Titanium Cardprogger or TJ's banana loader, just to see if the programmer is working?
Looking at your photo, of the programmer, I'm sure I've seen this programmer discussed before, in connection with the Dragon Cam, but I can't recall the reason. Do you know the make/model of this programmer? I'll search around the forums and try and find some more information.
Best wishes
Mickha

Hi Mickha
Thanks,for the quick reply.
I have set it to Phoenix 3.58mhz,but the same error occurs.
I don't have any other card,as I said before the dragon loader card is being programmed for someone else, and that's the only card they have.
So I can't follow your instructions for the Titanium card.
I'll try the TJ Banana loader.
There's no information about the make/model other than Smartmouse/Phoenix programmer,it was purchased from everybody's favourite online auction site,(from Slovakia)if that helps.
Knowing my luck,it's probably faulty,as I've said before the read/write does not come on.Only the power and reset light are on.
Thanks.

Hi SAT-WORLD,
TJ's banana loader isn't for the Dragon Loader Card, it's for a variety of other cards, Titanium 1&2 and others.
You need to set your programmer to 6Mhz to program a Dragon Loader Card PIC F84a. Does anything light up when you insert the card, showing it's connected, and have you set the Com port in the loader software?
There are a number of different loader programs which one are you using?
Best wishes
Mickha

The only lights with or without the Dragon loader card inserted is the power light and a reset light
Here's the instruction sheet that came with it:http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a1...Picture168.jpg
Yes,I've set the com port in the DRAGON LOADER.EXE(file version:1.0.01) from Dragonmodul.com.
Thanks.
