Well, It might seem a bit daunting, but it's certainly different!

I think your 3-core cable is to drive a polariser.

What you have is a 'prime focus' dish. This is where the LNB is mounted in the middle of the dish as opposed to underneath it on a boom arm.

It should be quite simple to just remove all that kit and replace it with a simple modern C120 LNB and feedhorn. If there is any way to keep the existing feedhorn and just add a C120 LNB, then you should do that, as the feedhorn will be exactly matched to the dish. It's hard to see the detail from your pics.

You can get a universal feedhorn assembly for prime focus dishes at Satellite Superstore here. Just add a C120 Invacom LNB and you would have one very cool dish setup. All you would need to do then is to get your motor working!

Why not have a go?

I searched on the model number you gave and very little came back, so I don't think you're going to find a manual.

The polariser has to be driven by a receiver that has a polariser control output like the Echostar 3600. Three wires out of the back of the STB to the polariser. Very few modern receivers use this technique and therefor have this facility.

If you're short of cash, just lash a standard 40mm LNB into the gap left where you pull the old feedhorn off. For around £5 you could be up and running. The polariser is not required in this case.

The three wires used to control most standard polarisers are:

1) +5V feed to power terminal of polariser
2) Ground
3) Skew connector - the control wire to adjust the 'rotation' of the polariser housing
