I am completely new!! Just retired and am looking for things to do.
I have an Echostar AD 3600 IP Viaccess receiver which is working well, I can get all the preset sats that were already installed. I now wish to search for more, making my first attempt to receive FTA which i understand is at 28.2E Astra 2A. Unfortunately i have lost the instruction book to the receiver and have no idea of how to set the thing up to search, can anyone help? Roy |

Hi Roy, and welcome to the forum!
Well, maybe I'm biased, but I think you've chosen a fine hobby ![]() I've attached your manual, so that should get you started. If you still need some help, I think both Analoguesat and Jimdefruit have had Echostar 3000s, so they might have some tips too. What dish do you have? Is it motorised or multi-LNB? Astra2 is where all the 'Sky' stuff is located, along with most of the English FTA channels like BBC and ITV etc. You can see a list of everything you will be able to receive from 28.2E FTA here. Good to have you here Roy ![]() STICK

Hi roy007,
if you already have Astra 2 on your system, just go to the satellite, press the white button on your remote control and add data, this way you can add just the channels you want. If you want to search for channels, press the Menu button, go to the hammer symbol, press OK, and then to the binoculars symbol, press OK and seach for channels. To add a satellite, go into Menu, go to the hammer symbol, press OK, go to the first dish symbol (motorized), press OK, and scroll to set limits, press OK, to program satellites, press OK, from the drop down box choose the satellite you want, select a frequency on the satellite, go down to position and move the dish untill you get a strong signal and then search channels. If you run into any problems, or have more questions, please post back. Best wishes Mickha |

STICK and MICKHA
Many thanks for your warm welcome and the assistance that was given. My system is motorised. Im pretty sure the dish is 90? I have managed to get onto Astra 2 28.2e and have 148 channels, but non of them are in English or the ones listed on this site. Signal strength is quite good 70%. Why cant i receive the other channels. Any ideas welcome. All the best Roy007 |

Whereabouts are you?
Assuming England, a 90cm dish will easily pull in Astra 2, but if you are only getting 70%, it doesn't sound too good. Based on that and what you said you have found, I don't think you're on Astra 2 at all ![]() What channels do you have? If you could list say a dozen at random, we could probably tell you where you are. Regards, STICK

Hi roy007,
press the white button, go to add data, press OK, put in 12422 H 27500 and hit continue, if you get Menandmotors, you are on Astra 2, 28.2E, and all you need to do is add the new frequencies. You can find all the required information on lyngsat.com Best wishes Mickha |

Hi Roy,
You are not on 28.2E, you are on 19.2E. You need to motor further east for the BSkyB satellite

Hi roy007,
it sounds like you're on Astra 1, 19.2E, you'll need to move your dish another 9 degrees east to get to Astra 2. Press the Menu button, navigate to the hammer symbol, hit OK, navigate to the first dish symbol (motorized), press OK, and scroll to set limits, press OK, to program satellites, press OK, from the drop down box choose the Astra 2, 28.2E, select a frequency on the satellite, preferably 12422 H 27,500, if that's not there either hit TP00, and manually input that channel or choose another one that corresponds to a transponder on Astra 2. You can choose from here: _http://www.lyngsat.com/28east.html Go down to position and move the dish East untill you get a strong signal and then search for the channel, Please post back, if you have any problems or with the good news. Best wishes Mickha Jimdefruit beat me to hit while I was typing, but please follow the other information. |

Mickha.
No good news im afraid. Ive tried everything you suggested. When i go through the procedure i select Astra 1 it comes up with the pos 19.2 when i drop down to position i get the best signal at 1270 and all the channels. When i select Astra2 28.2 and selecting the freq 12422 i get the same signal strenght at 1270 and the same channels. as Astra1 I get no signals when sweeping east from the Astra 1 setting . I have even moved the dish pyjisically approx 10e, it made no difference. Any more ideas Roy007 I dont get any other signal sweeping towards the east. |
