Just had a thought after reading about "patches". - so here is a silly question - *Is there any patch for the Fortec Lifetime Classic received to enable Sky and other encoded channels to be watched as there is no place for a card of any sort? *Not that I'm greatly interested in Sky but I just wondered if it was possible. I do have a computer but not sure what connections with the box could be established.

There are no patches or emulations that directly decode sky channels. However, certain emulations will read official cards in a linux based receiver.

There was a patch for your box if I remember correctly, but I don't think it's been updated for a long time. If it was possible to input keys with the remote then it's possible it could still unlock some channels, but there is not much available using this method at the moment.
As Jim says, Sky is not available by using this technique, and never has been. Have a look at al7bar.tk to see if you can still get hold of something. The site is very slow though, so be patient. You would need a null-modem cable and a com port on your computer, that's all. STICK

Only those models that the, erm, 'developers' choose to support.
These things work like any other. Money motivates. The days of the backroom 'champion of the satellite-viewing oppressed' have long gone. If someone wants to sell a lot of FTA boxes and decides to make them more attractive by funding a patched image, then it happens. When the money dries up, so does the support. Ow! Did I just get all cynical and twisted then? ops: ![]() You might (not) be surprised to know that some of the biggest names in STB manufacturing actively encourage such practices! Allegedly. LOL, surely not... ![]()
