Hi Sid,
The only TP I have prob with is 11863 H on Astra 1, all other Tps are fine with Sig Lvel of 78% and Levels around 99%.

My itch is this: Why is just 1 Tp so erratic in Sig Quality?

All other Tps higher and lower Freq, horizontal or vertical are great.

I suppose changing out the LNB is not that hard, dish at ground level. I'm after the knowledge more than the cure.
will report back after change of LNB.
P.S. Don't think there are any adj. screws on old LNB

Hi dohouch,
I don't suppose you have a cordless phone, or maybe something nearby that can be interfering, on that frequency, during the day ????? Usually it is a constant problem, with cordless phones, unless they're switched off at night.
Does the signal improve at the same time each night?
Try re-scanning, when the problem arises, using a slightly different frequency, 11838 or 11834, just to see if that makes any difference, and please keep us informed of the problem.
Best wishes
Mickha

I had a similar problem with all satellites at frequency 11642 and it was down to the base unit of a cordless phone in an upstairs bedroom quite near to my dish. As soon as I unplugged it, all was well. Have a look at page 2 of this part of the forum under "Funny Signals". There's a particularly mathematical explanation that might just help solve your problem.

hi m8 in the older lnbs there is a ajust screw.this will depend on how old your lnb is.you said the lnb was at least 10 years old.its at least 10 years or more since i last did this.maybe more years back i cant remmber.i was only trying to help you here,by the way iv been in this hobbie longer than most guys.good luck hope you get sorted.also if it is one of the lnbs i said your find im right,we never to old to learn.this might have saved you a few quid,do me fav just put a new 1 on.some old lnbs do not do high band or low the lowest frequences.thats where moveing the screw inside comes in handy for those who know.

I haven't really had a chance to check, but I'll take a look at 11836H tomorrow and see what I get in the middle of the day. It could of course be SES still fiddling with the various transponders after the 1KR deployment.

If it's one TP could it be the LNB needs fine tuning slightly? Maybe the hot weather is enough to make it unwatchable even though it's ok the rest of the time? Others here have talked about rotating the LNB slightly to "tweak" reception of TPs.

Well am watching the Tour de France on ZDF during the day at the moment , also the LNB I was going to replace it with comes from Sky mesh which will match only poorly.
However when I came in yesterday about 7PM 11836 H was pefect. Today it was off again and today here
is much cooler than yesteday about 20degrees C and overcast so no heating of dish or LNB through direct sunlight.
I don't have a cordless phone but the neighbours aren't too far away could be they have one, but then unlikely they would switch it off at 7PM. Would a cordless in standby produce the interference or just while talking?
Digital or analogue cordless?
Actually tomorrow is a slow day on the "Tour" might get around to it.

Hi m8. Forgot to check that TP today. I'll try and remember tomorrow ops:

Don't think it's a phone, as the frequency's not quite right (11836MHz gives an IF of 2086MHz - not in the 1880MHz - 1900MHz DECT band), but it is just about possible I suppose.

The interference would only be with a digital DECT phone, and it wouldn't matter if it was being used or not. Even if the base were turned off, the handsets can still interfere.

Do you have any other large or powerful transmitters nearby? Something that would only be used in the day? A commercial antenae of some sort?

Yes, you're right. The Sky LNB will be very poorly suited if it has an inbuilt skew for 28.2E.

Appreciate the info on the cordless phone business. Everything is good today. Did some fiddling around as I wanted to find out if the Irish Sky mesh (71.5cmX60) could receive Astra 1. My location 52.10N 10.10W. (next parish Manhatten), It does it just fine and produces the same signal readings on my FTA as the big 105X97. Picture was good too. No to sure about the accuracy of IRD signal meters. So I connected big dish to Sky box and Sky mesh to FTA receiver and both ( on same Astra 1 TP have been fine all day, much cooler day.
But the idea that some business hours local source of interference may be cause seems plausible. Can live with it. A friend of mine lost the signal from one TP and it was a briar that had grown up that was causing it. I'm really tickled that one looses just 1 TP. Seems daft, but its the way I guess.
