Default Cannot find SkyRadio on Astra 19E

I got it all up and running with good signals from Astra 28E and Astra 19E. Automatioc scan and lots of TV and radio channels all working fine.

But why can't I find my favourite pop radio channel SKYRADIO which is on Astra 1G at 19E. Automatic scan does not find it and when I enter all the parameters in a manual scan the result is "nothing found". Is there something more I should know?

Details from www.skyradio.nl are:-

Astra1G, clear/unencoded, Transponder 109, PID 227, F 12574, Horizontal, 22000, FEC 5/6

I have just checked it and am getting it ok. Nice programme

I am not sure which receiver you have but does your by any chance have separate satlists for TV and Radio.

I need to switch my dreambox to radio mode to see the SkyRadio channels

Yep, bashing in here too, 99% signal.

I've attached a pic of the details I have working for you to compare, but they're the same as you have. FEC is 5/6 according to Lyngsat.

I can only suggest you try it again, maybe they were off the air at the time you tried or something odd.

Glad you're up and running

Let us know if you still have problems, and we'll scratch our heads a bit more.

Yeh, you are right. I got it going now.

I found just a slight rotation of the LNB was necessary - about 5 or10 degrees seems to make a all the difference.

I read about slew or tilt settings - something to do with polarization.

I have two LNB's set to 28.5E and 21.2E. The angle of slant between these two satellites is 3 degrees, and this is what the two LNB's were angled at relative to my true horizon.

I read the slew for these satellites is 21 degrees and 15 degrees. Is this the amount of twist I should put on each respective LNB out of my true vertical?

newbie

PS I used the term "my true horizon and vertical" because they differ place to place.

a rough wind can soon knock a sattelite slightly out of alignment

Poor LNB location and orientation are the main reasons for reduced signal quality problems in my experience.

An LNB not at the focal point of the dish (maybe due to distortion of the dish face or LNB boom), LNB pushed too far backwards or forwards in the holder and incorrect skew (or twist) relative to the dish and/or specific satellite can all cause this.

You should try to adjust ONE thing at a time exhaustively until you maximise reception before moving onto the next. Repeat the whole procedure a second or third time to get it perfect and you can be sure you are achieving the maximum potential of your dish.

Have a play with the SMW calculator detailed in this thread:

http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...php?topic=34.0

It shows you the amount of skew required for each satellite, as well as the az/el based on your latitude and longitude. A very simple but very effective little tool.
