Setup Technomate 5000 with 80cm dish, 2 x LNB 1xA/B disque sw. LNB1 on Hellasat2 LNB2 on Eurobird.Working fine for over 18 months. About 2 weeks ago ERT and RIK (Mother-in-laws favorite's) disappear and she is told by friends that the stations have moved and receiver needs retuning. When I tried to do this there was a message "no signal" from Hellasat2,tecnomate's on board meter saying 76/78 strength 10 quality. I by passed the A/B switch connecting directly to LNB1, still no signal. I swapped LNB's over Hellasat still no signal Eurobird still strong and good quality.Using a Digisat Pro meter the LNB2 showed over 2 times the strength of LNB1. Anyone have any ideas.. please help make me favorite son-in-law... .
Ps any one know offset to refocus LNB2 to Hotbird |

For the current Hellas Sat2 channels, see http://en.kingofsat.net/sat-hellas2.php
The ERT channel is transmitted on frequency 12524 V 30000 5/6. You dont need to move your dish, you just need to enter the new transponder frequency details.

Yes, it looks like they moved transponder a few days ago.
Also, regarding moving your other LNB to Hotbird - I don't think you'll have much luck on your 80cm dish. Hellas2 at 39E is 26 degrees away from Hotbird at 13E and that's a bit much for an 80cm dish. It is possible, but you would have to make a bracket extension yourself, and you would probably experience poor performance on both LNBs. If you really want it, either add another dish or motorise your existing dish with a single LNB. STICK

Ive connected the downlead directly to both LNB's LNB2 works fine (eurobird) LNB1 (Hellasat2) reports no signal, Technomate's meter says strength 80 and quality 10, would the strength value of 80 be enough to receive pictures and if the symbol rate is incorrect would that explain the poor quality.
The reason for wanting Hotbird was to get ERT back as I cannot see it on Hellasat (satco) lists Kingsinfo list seems to be a couple of weeks old. The transponder frequency is set for 12524 V I,m not sure what sr is set though. As you can probably tell I'm new to this but I did set up the Hellasat2 when it came on line and learned a bit then but not enough. |

With a signal strength of 80, it seems like your dish/LNB is still aligned on Hellas Sat 2 OK.
You have done the correct thing by swapping over your LNBs and found no difference, so you can rule out a defective LNB. You've bypassed the DiSEqC switch, so it's not that - and connected the coax directly to the Eurobird LNB and got a good picture, so have ruled out any problem with the cable/connectors and receiver hardware. Your signal strength is good, so it can only really be the tuning of the transponder. If you don't know what it's currently set to, then it's probably wrong and would indeed give the symptoms you describe i.e. good signal strength and very low quality. The symbol rate is a required part of the transponder definition, and you can set it in your receiver menu. Have a read of your manual. If you still can't figure it out, I'll try and find something for you. STICK
