hi guys,
i'm wanting to buy an lnb and possible feedhorn for an offset 1.6 sat dish, at the moment i'm using a triax 0.3 for nilesat, but the signal at the moment in the evening is roughly 55% for mbc an for one tv about 53% from the northeast uk, any ideas of any good shops to look at. regards john |

It's highly unlikely that you'll do any better than the manufacturers own feedhorn, as it's matched precisely to the dish. Add to that a real good fringe LNB like the Invacom Quad C120 and you'll be maximising your chances.
Have you spoken to Fortec Star? Maybe they are the best people to help you squeeze every last ounce of signal out of your existing dish face. Contact Details: UK Office: Fortec Star Communications Ltd The Granville Suite Blades Enterprise Centre Sheffield United Football Club Bramall Lane Sheffield, S2 4SU United Kingdom fortecUK@fortecstar.com Other Contacts: For technical support, email us at: tech_support@fortecstar.com (This email address is directed to our Dubai office) Other than that, I would maybe think about going for a top quality dish like the Andrews 1.8m with matching feedhorn. Nilesat is tough to get reliably in the UK, especially the horizontal TPs. To do the job properly, you may need a 2.4m dish or better.

begonna hi,
thats me finished with buying any more dishes= £220 for the dish, and then i dug a 4 foot hole and then i spent about £60 on cement and i found a skip were i managed to get a number of bricks with a lot of stones, without all the bricks and stones i would have spent at least twice as much and then i spent about £25 on the cable and £20 for a 8 foot pole with a one foot square plate welded at the bottom delivered. Getting the pole was was very satisfying for me because i quickly found out going round the scrapyards they only had 2'' poles, getting the 3'' was really hard at the time until i found the little workshop were i bought it from. Yes i agree i will buy one or two lnbs which have a very good reputation, the one you mentioned has a good name and possibly an inverto c120 0.2 that sounds good. One thing i am not sure about does an offset dish need a feedhorn or will just an ordinary lnb do the trick. If i get another 5% increase with another lnb i think that will do. i will get in touch in with fortec. regards john |

Yes, buying big dishes isn't funny or cheap, but at the end of the day it's the only real way to collect more signal.
You'll have to accept patchy reception on your current dish even with the best LNB you can find, but it'll be a lot easier than installing another monster! You can certainly get a matched feedhorn for a good quality offset dish like the Andrews. They have some described here: http://www.andrew.com/search/BN_PA-100533-EN.aspx and here is the Andrews 1.2m offset with LNB and feedhorn mounted: http://www.andrew.com/search/BN_PA-100547-EN.aspx Jimdefruit has one. Check it here: http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum....msg631#msg631 As I said, if the dish manufacturer has bothered to craft the perfect matched feedhorn, then I'd certainly give it a go. If you go for a generic one, or a standard universal LNB then you will get a less than perfect illumination of the dish face. I too have heard good things about the C120 Inverto, but make sure you get the White Tech version. The Invacom Quad is still the daddy for me though ATM. STICK
