![]() Sorry, I can't help but rise to the challenge : ![]() Sounds like your installation's moving a bit closer anyway. Shame about the western thing. You can always try and blag a nice tall scaffold pole later on...

Well i started the installation yesterday and things didn't go quite to plan
![]() I've reset the polorization angle on the lnb and tweeked the minidish. Now at around 80% signal level instead of 35% as it was before. I've also set up the receiver and tuned all the channels on Astra 2 from the minidish to make sure it works properly. Everything OK there. I've also managed to get the pole mounted on the wall for the 80cm dish and thats about it. Rain and lots of wind stopped play. After nearly getting blown off the ladder when wind caught the dish i decided to give it a miss. Will try again next weekend. ![]() I've had to fit the dish pole about 3m up to ensure the dish clears any line of sight obstructions. If the weather doesn't improve i might even look into hiring a small scaffold tower so i can get it done. ![]() Its suprising how little wind can nearly pull you off the ladder when you have a 80cm dish in your hand. I dont fancy doing a Rod Hull . ![]() Will keep you all updated.

A well advised safety note there from nanochickin.
Never ever try to erect a dish in windy weather - if the wind catches the metalwork it can exert an enormous load on the dish. I have heard of a case where someones dish ripped free in a gale and demolished a greenhouse 5 miles away. (The owner of the offending dish was tracked down as he had postcoded the dish!!) ![]()

Well i finally got the 80cm dish up this afternoon after a 2 week wait. I'm well chuffed. ![]() Thanks for everybodys help, not sure if it would have got it to work without it. I decided to use the sky minidish @28.2e & 2 lnbs @13e and 19.2e on the 80cm dish in the end leaving port 4 on the DiseqC switch avaliable for testing things out on with my 50cm Dish Network setup and the BSB squarial. I also managed to get hold of an old (dont laugh) Amstrad SRX-100 receiver and expander for £1 at a carboot sale this morning. The guy did offer me the videocrypt decoder aswell for £1 but i couldn't see the point as no one uses it anymore. I think i may try the other dish out on some of the other birds between 13e and 1e as i think i have line of sight. I think i may also be able to get 5w if i stick a dish on my shed. OK i think you have sussed out that i'm now hooked. I think i might start saving up for a new receiver now. Once again thanks to everyone for their help ![]() (will post the piccies in "Pictures of members dish/receiver setups please!")

Hey, that's what we call a result!
Well done mate. I think you made the right decision with the configuration. 5W is definitely worth a look too with the kit you have. Sounds like you're starting a satellite museum! Still, at a pound a shot - who's counting?! ![]() Glad you're happy with the fruits of your labour, and we look forward to the pics ![]() STICK
