Default Sky Freesat in Alicante, Spain

Hi
My microwave TV signal has just been switched off (again) and before I set myself up for another expensive upgrade (which is likely to be switched off again in 2 years time), I would like to seriously consider going with Sky freesat.
My main problem is relative to dish size and choice of satellite (Astra 2D and Hotbird), some suppliers recommending 2.4 meter dish, others 1.5.
I understand that a 2.4 m dish would need to be securely mounted (where?) and space severely restricts this choice.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

http://www.astra2d.com/spain.htm

suggests 2.4m is nearer correct for Astra 2D.

Most of the Hotbirds should cover Spain very well, and an 80cm should be fine for 13E

Hi malydee :welc2:

There aren't many other options

Web streams are becoming quite watchable. In two years they'll be a lot better.

Is there not anyone else (ex-pat or whatever) nearby that may be interested in sharing a dish and the cost?

As Analoguesat has said, Hotbird is easy, and you could at least watch BBC Prime

Hi

Thanks for the info.
I will discuss the Hotbird option further with the local supplier (uktelevision.com)
