The Dreambox has always been king primarily IMO because it was the first.

It has far better support than everything else (including the TD), though some (misguided) people will argue with that.

I actually think that the TD is a better box. It's really well built. Lovely quality apparently. They also learnt a lot for Dream's mistakes and avoided the pitfalls.

Support is much better now than it was, but there is still far less choice than for the DB.

The fact that the TD employs a PowerPC CPU in common with the DM-70x0 means that (AFAIK) you can shoehorn all the Dreambox plugins and other executables into the TD images without recompiling in most cases.

I have a feeling it's not quite that simple, because it's taken this long to get a handfull of stable images out there with the same capabilities.

The Dreamboxes are still suffering a few reliability problems, as well as some unwelcome price hikes. The Triple Dragon is holding up well on both fronts.

I's still just about go for a 7020 over the TD but the gap is narrowing.

I'll be waiting for the DM-8000, though I won't be the first to have one based on Dream's 'Rev1' reputation

I'd be interested to hear other peoples views...

In spite of all the comments about bad reliability etc, I have an early blue LCD 7000s dreambox that I bought secondhand and I have had no trouble whatsoever with it.

Whilst some say the tuner is not as good as later models, I dont have any trouble with reception and that is my criteria.

What does better quality do for you? If the quality is adequate then why go better. The styling is important because it sits there in front of you and you dont want to look at something that is ugly. I find the Dreambox's clean lines seem to stand the test of time and they suit my tastes.

The linux range of receivers are designed to give flexibility to the users with choice in the on screen presentation and plugins. So far the Dreambox has the lead in options available and I think probably will for quite a long time.

Whats everyones opinions on the DGstation Mutant Relook boxes. :?

From what i've read they are compatible with the images avaliable for the DB. Aparently the Relook 200 will run the DM500 OS and add ons. No idea how much truth there is on this.

I have been looking at various boxes before i spend my hard earned money. Very nearly purchased a DM500 this morning but decided to wait for my NHS grant and go for the DM7020 instead (With the wifes blessing i might add)

I am primarily looking into this with the view of CS so whats everyones opinion on this

From reports I have seen on the Relook boxes, from guys who have both Relook and Dreamboxes, the Relook picture quality is not as good as the Dreambox.

There are quite a few questions that get asked re problems getting Relook boxes working and very few clear answers.

In view of the huge support for the Dreambox, I would stick with that.

I hear that the Relook tuner is a good deal more sensitive, and the box is obviously a lot cheaper to start with, but the Dreambox is definitely the safe bet.

Don't know much about the other two, but the amount of support speaks for itself.
