I only know enough Linux to get by on the Dreambox, though I have had a few other simple Linux boxes.

MythTV sounds good. fergycool uses it with a pair of Nova-T's as well as an SS2

I'd heard of it before, but never first-hand from someone who was using it.

There's also some basic guff here:

But it sounds like you're beyond that already.

Well done. Another intereting Linux project in the making. Keep us up to date with your progress, Very interesting!

Cheers stick I tried mythtv a few weeks ago with ubuntu and its really confusing connecting to databases etc I never even got a signal using that never mind a picture. Will have a look at the links you mentioned and let you know how I get on in due course. Ideally I would like to run wine windows emulator but alas I can't get it to work lol.

I had a look at wine, but it seemed like the worst of both worlds...

Progdvb starts up in wine but thats about all. Next stop is altdvb but I can only find zips not an installer for it. If I can find an exe version that actually lets you install it that could work but I doubt it. Bit of a n00b when it comes to linux but I have been told they might work with Vmware running

I wish you the best of luck!

I can't stand such OS mixing abominations personally. Virtual machines have been going downhill since the original VM from IBM which I worked on when I left school http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VM_%28operating_system%29

Keep it clean and simple if at all possible.

STICK
