Default What's the best setting 1080i or 720p?

Is there a rule of thumb on the picture quality between the 1080 interlace v's 720 progressive?

My HD TV is the Panasonic TH42 PX600 and my HDMI leads are IXOS XHT458's

I've been told that fast moving sport better suits the prograssive scan and that films work better with the interlace settings but is this true?

I suppose it's lines v's speed in the end.

Any ideas?

Hi Martyn, welcome to the forum

I don't have an HDTV setup yet, but there are a few here who do, so let's hope they can give you some of their views

I leave mine set at 1080i and let my set downscale to its native resolution honestly though ive tried both and Ive never seen the difference.
