Hi all,
so far on my MythTV box, I've got Astra 19 and Hotbird 13 working pretty good. I have most of the channels I wanted. However, whilst playing with mythweb (a web interface to MythTV) I've just found about 30 channels that previously were not visible. The channels are fine, but I had to manually tune to them by typing the channel ID. They were nowhere to be found in the EPG. The only place I found them was in the MythWeb channel listing. Each of the missing channels was not selected in the "Visible" field. After selecting this field and updating the list, then they appear in the Program guide. I've searched all over for MythTV forums about why this is so, to no avail. All I can think is that when i originally scanned for the channels that they were not broadcasting. Does anybody think that this is plausible? Some of the missing channels are fairly mainstream (e.g. TVE From Spain). Otherwise if anybody else has any other ideas I'd be most grateful. Cheers Ferg (ps all I now need to do is find some program listings for these channels as I can't find any "over the air" listings.

'tis moved.
Perhaps you can give us as many of the 30 channels as you can be arsed to type (or cut and paste) in, or check to see if they have anything in common with each other by looking at www.lyngsat.com or one of the other big listing sites. On Lyngsat, clicking on the channel name usually takes you to the broadcaster's site - where you will often find programme listings. STICK

The only ones I remember are:
I also see the National Geographic HD channel id, but I cannot see the video. I have a long list of channels ids. BUT I don;t really know where these come from. Whether they are radomly assigned, or whether they are unique to the channels on a particular satellite. Cheers ferg

After looking at Lyngsat I get the feeling that the NG HD channel was left over from when I was pointing at the Astra 28 satellite, as I can't find it anywhere else!!
One of my major gripes about MythTV is that to remove channels/video sources etc.. you need to delve into MYSQL, and delete them by hand. This is something that I am not too comfortable in doing!! Cheers Ferg

You should install phpMyAdmin - an excellent free MySQL tool which makes manipulating tables much easier.
As far as the channels are concernend, it's not obvious why they didn't scan in quite the same way. There are many technical reasons why this can happen (most of which I don't really understand). Sometimes a rescan can fix it, and sometimes you have to apply a workaround to the channel properties once scanned to be able to view them. National Geographic HD is available as part of the Sky Italia package on Hotbird 13E and also as part of the CanalSat package on 19.2E, but they are both broadcast in DVB-S2 which your Skystar 2 will not be able to decode. STICK

A problem here I think is that my knowledge is somewhat lacking in the Satellite area. I've never even had a bog standard SKY box before, and I really have jumped in at the deep end!!! Nonetheless it keeps the GF happy, as she's had a good few nights of viewing French telly. So it's been worth it so far :-) Quote:
Once again thanks for your help! Cheers ferg

Fergy - does this package support the Skystar1 I wonder ??, been looking for an excuse to stick my head into the Linux cage for some time now.
This may be the reason I need. L. ![]() |

Hi Lancelot

http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/PCI_devices_DVB-S Although according to a useful page on the KnoppMyth wiki, nobody seems to use this card: http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/index.p...WhatCardYouUse You can boot directly with the KnoppMyth install CD, and it will show you if the card is detected without touching your hard drive.
