Welllll, in the defence of MythTV, You hear about a cool programme from a collegue at work, you go back to your desk, open a web browser, go to your home TV box, and record the programme!! :-)

The recording "timeshifting" aspects of MythTV are great. But there again I have no experience with anything else :-)

Mmm. Is it not a proprietary locked-down or otherwise crippled box intended for single provider rollout?

Hmm, perhaps I should look into these Dreamboxes....!!!

At least I could get some good ideas for improving my box.

I was chatting to a German collegue yesterday. He's setup a similar linux box. Except running VDR. Apparently VDR is very popular in Germany, as the cool tech magazine 'CT, publishes a CD with it on frequently.

I must admit I know little about VDR, apart from it's a competetitor to MythTV.

the Televes reciever went for £26 and I missed the bidding. Had a max of £25 but forgot all about it til I checked this morning
