Default Nine applicants for Ireland DTT

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland has announced it has received nine applications from companies looking to serve as Multiplex Programme Content Managers as part of the country’s DTT trial.

The companies are: BT Communications Ireland; Channel 6 Television; Chellomedia; Communicorp; Magnet Networks; RTE and Eircom; Sky Ireland; TVONE Broadband Media and USP Ireland.

A decision on the successful applicants is expected in the autumn.

Communications minister Noel Dempsey this week confirmed the commencement of the trial that will broadcast from the Three Rock site in Dublin and the Clermont Carn site in County Louth.

The pilot will initially carry a simulcast of the analogue broadcast networks – RTÉ 1, RTÉ2, TV3, TG4, RTÉ Radio 1, RTÉ 2 FM, RTÉ Lyric FM, RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta and Today FM.
