Default Satellite Upgrade

Hi there.
I am trying to upgrade the software in my Comag SL35 receiver via the Astra 19.2 east satellite.
Which the handbook says is possible. The screen tells me I am receiving broadcasts from Astra 1B which is now dead.

I can receive all the channels relating to Astra 1KR but the download of the updated software just wont happen.
After about fifteen minutes I get a message on the screen saying, collecting information failed.

Any ideas anybody???

Thanks. Len.

Try e-mailing the manufacturer of your receiver for more info. They are on occasions quite helpful

The info that came with your box may be out of date now. Its either that or the manufacturer is telling porkies to get you to buy their receiver. I have looked at other sites written in German and from what i can understand as my german is really crap is taht you should also be able to get updates from 13e aswell.

The other alternative is by doing with a 9 pin d-Cable (null modem), which is how i updated my Fortec Star receiver.

You can try this link, no idea if the firmware is there as i didn't look into it that much. :?

This site may be of use aswell

Hope this helps.

Just one other thought as to where I may be going wrong.

Is there a particular frequency or transponder that I need to locate or tune to, to be able to carry out this software upgrade?
Or should my receiver automatically search the frequencies when placed in upgrade mode.

Any more thoughts most welcome.

Best regards. Len.

Hi Len, the receivers Ive used over the years have a required frequency built into them.

Although Astra 1B is dead, its frequencies have been re-allocated to other satellites in the Astra 1 cluster.
