Hi BMac,
you can pick up the FTA (Free to Air) channels off Astra 2, 28.2E, but not the FTV (Free to View) channels with a Technomate 1500, check out the Sky section for more details.
As for Eurosport, you used to be able to get a number of English language Eurosport channels, on Hotbird 13E, but unfortunately they have upgraded the encryption so currently they are not available.
A patch is a piece of software, specifically written for different receivers, or other hardware, to emulate certain encryption standards and decode channels where the keys are known, hence you patch your receiver with the correct software.
For example, at the moment, with the latest patch for the Technomate 1500 you can open the TPS package on Hotbird and the Premiere channels on Astra 19.2E, but usually we only get Premiere for a few days before they change the key.
As you can see we tend to switch satellites regularly in this hobby so a motorized dish, multiple LNB's, or multiple dishes is essential, can you please tell us what equipment you have or intend to buy?
Have a read through the Technomate section for some information, then post back with more questions.
Best wishes
Mickha

The mahjority of thre English language programming is carried on the satellites at 28E (BBC, ITV, shopping channels, radio services etc) Unfortunately Eurosport is in the Sky pay service, which is only available if you subscribe. Theres a couple of other Eurosports available in the clear - in German on 19E, and in English - but only in analogue also at 19E
