Media Capital eyes TV Cabo parent
Portuguese media group Media Capital is weighing a takeover bid for Portugal Telecom Multimedia, the parent of local cable and satellite platform TV Cabo. A source close to the situation that Media Capital is interested in teaming with a grouping of private equity outfits to acquire PT Multimedia.
The group, which includes Permira and Cinven, is reportedly currently weighing a bid for the entire Portugal Telecom group. However it could decide to move only for PT Multimedia should Portugal Telecom spin-off the pay TV unit.
