hi all, i have tm 1500ci, is it possible to record off the channels it transmits.
it has 2 scart connecters ,aerial in (terrestial), f-connecter dish, and an rf inlet. under me tv i currently have sky box,dvd,tm1500ci. on back of tv i have 2 scart connecters and rf outlet. i also have pc out, to dvd,so i can watch stream tv through my tv. is it possible to link all this without unplugging, i've tried a scart extension - a 3 gang but its **** to put it bluntly, and i end up with 2 channels conflicting. the current set up is as follows pc-out to dvd scart 1, dvd scart 2 out to tv. rf out from sky box to dvd rf inlet, so far pc is connected on dvd ext 1, i can also record sky via dvd via rf lead. and sky box takes up the other scart on back of tv. giving me choice with tm, to unplug either dvd or sky from back of tv, i hope your getting all this cause i'm losing meself ![]() now,the clincher, on dvd menu it says activate rf 2, where would this be,and if it is poss can i use rf outlet on tm and plug into dvd ...,enabling me to record hotbird etc........ any help much appreciated.... chavslav....... |

Hi chavslav,
You've got me confused as well. ![]() What are you trying to record onto? DVD recorder, PC hard drive, VHS?

This is how i've got mine setup. Seems to work OK. Lets me record off cable while watching Sat or visaversa or lets me record both sat and cable at the same time while i watch terestrial analogue.
![]() As you can see i have the RF lead marked green in the usual configuration. ![]() Aerial to cablebox rf in, Cablebox rf out to Satbox rf in, satbox rf out to VHS/DVD combi rf in, VHS/DVD rf out to betamax rf in, betamax rf out to tv rf in. Cablebox set at RF out 56, Satbox set at RF out 58, VHS/DVD set at RF out 60, Betamax set at RF out 54. I have one scart ( marked red ) from sat and cable box going to the 2 tv Scart sockets and the other cable from the sat & cablebox going to the VHS/DVD Scart sockets. Incidentally i have found in the past that the VHS/DVD scart 1 will act as a loopthrough for anything plugged into socket 2. Not sure if this will help you but it seems to work for me so who knows.

No filppin' idea! :roflmao:
When you say record, I take it that it's a DVD recorder you have? Hmm. I think I would try this, as I have something similar working. I would try daisy chaining via SCART. I have: Sky digibox TV SCART ==> Dreambox VCR SCART Then: Dreambox TV SCART ==> Sony TV SCART 2 I also have a Toshiba DVD player plugged into the Sony TV SCART 1, which is RGB. For terrestrial, I have the TV aerial plugged into the Sky digibox ANT IN, RF out 1 from the Sky digibox looped through a Panasonic VCR into the TV RF aerial socket. Finally, I have the Sky digibox VCR SCART plugged into a Panasonic VCR AV1 SCART (so the kids can video Sky channels, but not naughty stuff from the Dreambox). I could probably just loop the terrestrial aerial through the VCR to the TV, bypassing the digibox and save a couple of RF cables. So there's no reason that you shouldn't try: Sky digibox TV SCART ==> Technomate VCR SCART Then: Technomate TV SCART ==> DVD recorder SCART 2 and: DVD recorder SCART 1 ==> your TV SCART 1 and feed your PC stream into your TV SCART 2. If you wanted to be able to record the stream as well, you could try feeding it into the Sky digibox VCR SCART. If that doesn't work, feed the stream into the Sky digibox TV SCART, and connect the Sky digibox VCR SCART to the Technomate VCR SCART as above. Now, you can connect up your terrestrial the same as mine too and you should be done. You can switch from the Sky digibox to the Technomate by putting the other receiver into standby. The Techno should take priority if they're both turned on. My Dreambox does. Hope this helps, but I somehow think it doesn't! ![]()

Woah, now I'm going to walkthrough nano's setup, but I suspect it's similar

OK, looking at nano's setup, it very logical. RF daisychaining all the way from TV aerial to TV RF in through every device, 2 x STBs to 2 x TV SCARTS and also to 2 x DVD/VCR inputs. Very neat.
I have two questions for nanochickin. 1) Does your DVD/VCR unit playout DVDs or videotape to the TV via RF, or via SCART through one or the other STBs? 2) Why do you loop your terrestrial RF through both of your STBs? I have mine looped through the Sky digibox (Dreambox has no RF loopthrough) but don't know why I'm doing it! STICK

Well Stick here this is gonna take some explaining.
![]() Firstly i have to loop through the RF as the betamax VCR doesn't have what you could really call a SCART socket. Its the only way i can record on to it. ops:The one thing that i did forget to put down on the diagram was that my TV also has an S-Video (AV-3) socket. My Philips VCR/DVD combi has a S-Video and L/R audio out so its pretty logical to figure out that the S-Video on the VHS/DVD combi is plugged into the S-Video socket on the tv through an IOXS S-Video cable. The audio is connected to my Cambridge Audio amp through a set of IOXS Gamma phono cables and output through a set of Tannoy Speakers. Its nice and bassey, sounds awesome as the yanks would say. ![]() The same goes for the audio out on the cable and satellite box. The VCR/DVD combi is also connected through the RF, if i'm just watching a video or one of the wifes DVDs theres not much point in putting it through the amp as to be honest the picture and sound quality on a VHS is ****e at the best of times, Not a patch on the betamax to be honest. Thats why i still have it. Mind you the tapes are getting a bugger to find now. With the exception of Gone in sixty seconds i can't see the point of putting the wifes DVDs through the amp either as they're ****e too. Hope that has explained it a bit better. Nano

I really would persist with daisy-chaining.
If you must buy a multi-SCART socket, then you'll need to spend around £50-£100. Below is a similar question I asked on another forum before discovering the better option I have now. Quote:
