I was looking at the forum and came across a thread from dic-w regarding equipment. He has asked about lnbs so i thought i'd start this thread to answer his and oter newbies questions.
What lnbs have you come across that are good value for money? , what experiences have you had with cheap lnbs? ![]() I'm not talking about the likes of your Invacoms or MTI i'm talking cheap LNBs under a fiver. ![]() Answers on the back of a stuck down envelope please. :roflmao:

I bought an MTI Blue-line 0.6dB LNB off eBay second-hand for a pound and it was perfect
![]() Never bought very cheap LNBs as I don't like heights and only want to go there once ![]() I've seen new Humax LNBs for under a fiver too. Perfectly OK.

From what Ive seen on other forums the 3.99 ones at Lidl are perfectly acceptable for day - day use. I tend to use MTI BluLines and think they are excellent. May be a bit more, but I want them to last a few years.

I'm now receiving excellent pictures on the LIDL £3.99 LNB and with totally acceptable results from 28.2E - I do need to tweak my dish as I'm running it off a 65 cm dish pointed to 28.2E which is a little bit fiddly to position. Adjusting the LNB in its holder produced some improvement in signal strength. My other dish is 80 cm and so is easier to "fine tune"

Yep, the Lidl LNBs get the job done just fine.Only if you're raking around the skies for tricky, hard to pull in signals do you need anything much better. I guess it all comes down to how much money you want to spend and what you want to receive. Reliability comes into it as well, but I've not heard anything bad about the Lidl LNBs in that respect. I must say my attitude is to spend well on your dish, cable and LNB, because it's more hassle to keep fiddling with them. Especially in the winter! ![]()

hi guys,i scan the skys more then most as a feedhunter.first thing is nothing beats dish size always.iv seen so many posts about lnbs.yes thay can make a small bit of difference on signel.i have one of LIDL £3.99 LNB jobs on my wave dish as test.funny iv not taken it off.i find she works fine, this is at 5e.iv seen a lot of bull about lnbs over the years.you can go cheep or spend a lot as to say lidl price.but you must remmber dish is always the key for what signel you get.a lot of people seem 2 get lost on this.a lot of these so called wonder lnbs for signel is not that true.somone does make a good coin though.

How right you are Sid.
Taking the reliability issue out of it (and that's only a small factor too) all this noise figure rubbish is madness. If you're in the middle of the satellite footprints you're interesting in, then any reasonable size dish and half-decent LNB will do. If you want to receive signals from outside of the recognised footprint then pushing the dish size up will make way more difference than fiddling with the LNB. Only when you can't go any bigger on your dish is it worth paying significantly more for your LNB. Thanks Sid. Words of wisdom.
