Radio Televisyen Brunei (RTB) yesterday signed a five-year agreement with AsiaSat to transmit its satellite programme channel - Brunei International - commencing October 1. For the last 10 years, the RTB Brunei International channel has made use of the Indonesian Satellite Palapa C2 to transmit its programmes to overseas Bruneians and the international audience. The intention of migrating to AsiaSat Satellite is due its footprint reaching a wider audience covering the Asian continent, Australia, New Zealand, Turkey, Egypt, some parts of the Pacific, a major part of the Middle East and parts of Africa. Before the total switchover to AsiaSat on October 1, RTB will be simulcasting its Brunei International programme to both its Palapa and AsiaSat viewers for one month starting September 1.
