Hi everyone, Help needed, please. I have just recently bought the LIDL satellite package as previously discussed in this forum.
As a newbie to satellite's I am at present trying to connect my computer to the above Silvercrest SL 65 Receiver via the RS-232 connection on the back of the receiver. I've tried using a Null modem-type connection with NO luck, so I can replace the (German) default to a more understandable English version. Any advice from the more-knowledgeable of the other members to this forum would be gratefully appreciated. contact me on: alanjenkins53ATblueyonder.co.uk Thank you in advance. I would be astonished if you cant change the language on the box in the menus structure without taking it anywhere near a computer. Fire it up connected to the tv and have a delve around the menus. Look for "sprache" The currently set language should be "Deutsche"

Hi Alan
![]() I'm surprised if the box has come with the default language set to German, but it's possible based on where you bought it. Has anyone else who's bought the SL65 from Lidl found this? As Analoguesat says, you must be able to reset it from the internal receiver menus. Do you have a manual? The RS232 port on the rear is only used for completely reflashing the firmware, and it could be that firmware downloaded from the manufacturer site will also default to German, as will the loader application. I can't even find an official firmware download! STICK

Unlike most of the earlier Comags, it looks like the SL65 has very limited firmware support. Theres a little available here:

Current status as I've browsed the net.
SL65 or SL55 updates check website:- www.np-ulc.net/index Comag SL55 For Comag SL55 - look for ALL47 or similar ALLxx software Make sure you load ALL10 first - to get the boot loader. Then U can use the RS232 to load ALL47 and any other similar upgrades. PC based Key Editors and RS232 keyloaders available There are many clones for this box. Premier PRS 10100/10200/10300/10350 Starvision 5100/5200/5300/5400 Univers U4101/4102/4105 .. FTE IRD 420T/390/410/420 Dansat G7/G8/G9/New G Boca Chess SL55 Comag SL65 (Silvercrest SL65) Beware: there are may versions of Comag SL65 - please check! Early versions use the ST5518 processor chip and have 20pin Jtag Jtag software and definition files readily available. Key Editor built in BMI-soft - CAS - MENU-VERSION- key in 7337 Intermediate versions use the ALI m3329 processor chips, of which there are large chip versions M3329A, M3329B and M3329E1 These still use Parallel Flash EEprom 29LVxxx, 39LVxxx or similar These have either 12 pin or 6 pin Jtag The Comag SL65/12 (camping falls into this group) There is support for Jtag for these boxes - look for wri-ali.zip It's a tool used for de-bricking a network router via jtag port, someone has adapted it to work with M3329A and M3329B devices. Good support on german websites, look for _www.dream-pirates.gmc.to/wbb2/board.php The newer version uses a 108 pin 15 x 15 mm chip processor ALi M3329C-E1 This later version uses a Serial Flash EEprom 25FLxxx Spansion 8 pin. This SL65 version has 6 pin Ejtag (extended Jtag) Have not found a definition file for either the M3329 or the SFlash device. Keep scanning the web (check spanish, german, polish, ... etc websites). Stongly suggest U obtain Ejtag Software & Def file before messing with ALi-M3329C-E1 By the way - I'm still looking for a ALI-M3329C E1 data sheet and EjTAG Software for same. Tony I have Comag SL55 orginal, 2x Silvercrest SL65 20pin ST5518 and 2x Slivercrest SL65 ALi-M3329C-E1 |
