![]() Cartoon secret agent Dangermouse is returning to television after the BBC bought episodes of the series to broadcast in its daytime schedules. This month marks the 25th anniversary of the character and his bumbling sidekick Penfold, who joined forces to defeat evil Baron Greenback in 1981. Last year the show was third in Channel 4's poll of the best children's TV. The show has been seen in more than 80 countries, according to Fremantle Media, which owns distribution rights. The secret of the programme's success was the bizarre scenarios in which the pair found themselves, said Mark Hall, co-founder of production company Cosgrove Hall, which produced the show for Thames TV. "The adults watched because of that kind of anarchy," he told the BBC earlier this year. "The kids watched it because they just loved the stories and the absolutely stupid gags." He also praised the actors who had voiced the characters. Sir David Jason was "fantastic" as Dangermouse, he said, while the late Terry Scott provided a "wonderful" Penfold. "Dangermouse was a sort of cross between Bond and all sorts of things," Mr Hall said. "He was supposed to be suave but he was a mouse with big ears." The cartoon was first aired on ITV in the UK and attracted an average audience of 3.5 million, Fremantle Media said. No transmission date has yet been set for the re-runs on the BBC. :roflmao:

LOL, yes - all three of those get my vote over DM. Especially the Herbs. And MM&M. Err, and silly old Hector.

Don't forget Rainbow, Crystal Tipps and Alistair (What the hell was that about?) The Wombles, Button moon and early Thomas the Tank engine.
My 3 year old watches them everynight on Nick Jnr. I wish they would show the old runs of the Magic Roundabout instead of the politically correct ones. Does anyone remember Pipkins, Mr. Ben and Michael Bentenes Potty Time? Or is just me? :? Love the Herbs. Definately my favorite.

I still do impressions of Hartley Hare, the (scouse?) 'Pig', plus Octavia the ostrich and Topov the monkey when I've had a few too many. My kids have no idea to this day who they all are
![]() I used to love the little footprints in the sand on the Potty Time models... excellent. Who else used to spend hours trying to duplicate those cool landscapes full of invisible people? What, nobody?!? ![]()

The pig in pipkins was a brummie
I remember that and Octavia was an Ostrich. It started out with an old feller presenting it Inigo Pipkin and when he died it was just pipkins with a bloke called Johnny. There is a great site for the theme tunes for all of these mostly in mp3 format _http://www.tv.cream.org a few links on there to other sites too
