Default Playing with my BSB Squarial

Well i've got a few days off work so i decided to get the old BSB Squarial out and have a play.

The closest that i have got to getting a signal was when the dish was pointing off to the right of Astra 2. No idea what bird it was looking at, but looking at the angle it could have been 5W although i'm not sure if that was the case. :|

I was getting about 65-70% signal but it was bouncing between 25-35% signal quality. Sometimes the receiver signal meter was showing blue (acceptable signal) but most of the time it was red (Bad signal). I never manged to get it to stay blue long enough to scan the transponder to find out what was there. :'(

Well its fixed to the shed now so i can play a bit more tommorow.

Enjoy the piccies.

Difficult to tell from the piccies but it looks more like a 60 deg angle which would make it Hispasat at 30 W

Default Re: Playing with my BSB Squarial

I should have said that squarial just ended up pointing that way when i had finished playing for the day. ops:

When i nearly got a signal it was pointing midway between where you see it now and the rough direction of Astra 2. I worked that out to roughly 5w. Like i said though i could be wrong.

Anyway i'm going to have another play tommorow, this time i'm going to set my portable and the receiver up in the shed so i can see the receivers signal meter. I hoping to find that if i get the squarial pointing at a strong signal with the sat finder i can fine tune it using the receivers meter.

I'm going to have to e-mail analoguesat to see if hes had any joy with his BSB dish, hopefully he may have some pointers that may lead me to getting a picture from the squarial.
