It's me again.
Thanks for the info on multiple LNB's. I was hoping that I might be able to mount the switch box in the lounge. The dish would be on the same wall so the idea would be to run both cables ( one from each lnb ) in trunking down the outside wall and into the switch box. Is there any way I could extend the LNB cables in order to do this without signal loss. Thanks Pantyvest |

You shouldn't have any trouble for any reasonable distance, as long as your cable overall is less than about 50 metres. In fact it is a good idea to have the diseqc switch indoors out of the weather so it does not get water into the joints.
I know several guys who have longish runs and no problem. The biggest losses are at joint positions and switches.

Thanks you are a genius, I owe you a pint.
Nearly there now, all that remains is to ask for some advice about the best lnb's, dish ( 60 is anticipated) and the receiver, oh and the switch box...... and diseqc (whatever that is) and ..... could go on forever but considering I didn't have a clue a few weeks ago, you experts have got me hooked. Is there a monthly mag, and is it worth subscribing and is there a catalogue other than on line. Thanks once again. Pantyvest |

The Raven Gemini G70 is about the smallest multi-LNB dish I could recommend. They sell them at brymar.co.uk for £65. The mesh is as good as the solid version so I've been told.
The DiSEqC switching is very simple. It's just one tiny box which you can quite happily put outside if you want. It's designed to cope with the elements, but having it inside would save you taping up the joints if you don't mind having more than one cable coming indoors. That's all there is to it. The receiver automatically takes care of the switching, once you've configured it in the setup menus (also simple to do - you just tell it you're using DiSEqC 1.0, Astra 1 is on LNB1 and Hotbird is on LNB2, for example). What Satellite is one of the better paper-based mags. I'll let you decide if it's worth a sub ![]() The website is here: www.wotsat.com Usually available from WH Smith etc. Most satellite hardware retailers do the majority of their business via mail order these days, but there are a number of good 'real' shops you can visit. Try mailing them for a catalogue. STICK

hi Pantyvest(good idea to have the diseqc switch indoors)i like this why as the switches are easy to get @ if anything went wrong.i have 19 runs of coaxal where i feedhunt.now i taped mine up 14 together from my wave dish.i never notice it not as it runs @ the back of my bay window.my pc desk hides this a treat.wot sat shame on you stick lol yuk tea he.i would say tele sat international is the one to by.also you get a disk for your pc called satcodx, very handy to have.your can find what satellites you can see by putting in where you live(ie dish track).program some sat receivers with frequences.

LOL, yes the satcodx disk is useful...
Wotsat may be a better overall mag for beginners though ![]()

I think Sid was referring to Wotsat magazine.
