I can only raise the lnb that goes on the end of the arm but of course at the right angle it would also raise the right hand lnb to face the dish properly too. I am a man of perseverence so I will get there in the end I promise.

OK, this is meant to be lighthearted, so don't take it the wrong way

When you consider that you are trying to hit a satellite nearly 36,000 km above your head, it's not surprising that it takes a while. Try and hit two at the same time and you're going to need more patience than you can shake a stick at.

Still not impressed with those odds and want to make it even more difficult? Try and do it on a 60cm dish which is really too small (though it can be done). Once you can do that, move on to loaves and fishes (ooh I hate that word!).

What you won't be able to do, is achieve all that whilst everything is slopping about and held together with tape and swearwords!

You must eliminate as many unwanted variables as possible. This is something that's going to take a mathematical and precision approach after all. Get a pole secured and the dish mounted properly. Grease it all up nicely so that you can adjust in minute amounts without everything sticking and then suddenly slipping five degrees. Get a proper LNB holder, and finally, just make one adjustment at a time.

When you finally get something aligned, MARK IT!

If it's starting to give you the hump, I would seriously consider buying a bigger dish like the Triax TD88 with purpose built multi-LNB holder. Yes it will cost you, but what price your sanity?

At the end of the day, it should be fun. When it turns from fun to frustration, either walk away for a few days, or spend yourself out of trouble.

STICK

was on the brink of insanity when I realised I had made the biggest cock up of all. I have the monoblock the wrong way round. I have just seen your little pic on another post (never have been any good with mirrored objects etc). Gonna try it this afternoon when I get up. The main reason everything is not set up properly is we are in a rented house looking to move so I don't fancy putting it up properly only to move it and have to do it all again in a few months (don't think I mentioned that fact) and the frustration only ever lasts the length of time it takes to make a brew and roll a ciggy and post on here

This is my land of sanity and help and friendship.

Ok got a wedge from work from under one of the doors and that is now wedged under the lnb on the arm. Looking at the dish from the front I have the right hand LNB on the arm and the left hand one raised about 7.5 mm to pick up astra. Now then using my sat meter its picking up a very strong signal so strong in fact I have had to take it out. I have got Fastsatfinder V2 installed _http://www.fastsatfinder.com and that reckons that LNB 2 is on Hotbird but nothing for lnb 1 and astra (pics are posted underneath) but I am getting nothing on either Progdvb or Altdvb or Mythtv. So near and yet so far once again.

You'll need to swap the DiSEqC settings back again.

BINGO BINGO BINGO :roflmao:

Had everything the wrong way round from the start. Working in both altdvb and progdvb don't know about Mythtv yet as that is now my next project to put myself through.

Thanks to all for your time and patience now I am going to ask the mrs to remove the straight jacket

Many congratulations - I also had everything the wrong way round until the error of my ways was pointed out - it's great when you finally make a breakthrough - award yourself a large dram!!!
