Default how much tolerance on point of reference... due south..

thanks for all the replies to my earlier threads, lining up a potential busy day saturday.

how much tolerance is there on the due south.

i.e if i was move my dish slightly to the left or right in the due south position, would it increase my signal quality, or once your lined up on the sats your lined up.

is it possible to inch left slightly to increase on the arc....... ..

getting 72 % quality across the board , moving my due south position slightly would that help.

also as i'm only getting 5 east to 28.2 what sat would be best to set up on, i chose 5 east as this was close to the top, but as i'm not spanning the whole arc, should i choose mainly a sat in middle, hotbird etc...

Hi chavslav,
in England you generally line up your dish on Thor 1W, this being the closest satellite to due South, once that is done your dish should track the arc, you can do some fine tuning, slight adjustments, but only slight, to bring in the weaker satellites, but this depends on your dish size, general location and which satellite channel you're trying to tune in.
Setting up also depends on your motor, always read the manual and follow the instructions. Also if you're having problems with any particular satellite it might be that the channel your trying to find might be on a weak transponder so always try to start off with one of the stronger channels, for your location, on the satellite.
The main rule for setting up a motorised dish are, make sure your pole is plumb, as vertical as possible, use a spirit level, and set your motor and dish up as in your instructions.
You will tend to find it is easier than it first appears providing you follow the basic steps.
Good luck, and please post back with your results, or if you have any problems.
Best wishes
Mickha

Hi chavslav.

I would re-setup on 5E. Switch your receiver into DiSEqC 1.2 mode (i.e. no USALS) and drive your motor to zero degrees using GOTO 0.0.

Check your motor is exactly at 0.0 by looking at the scale on the motor body. The motor should have a reset button. Push it now.

Now drive your motor to 5E with the receiver. Setup up on 5E like it was 1W, then use the GOTO function to first find and then store every other satellite position.

You may find a little signal improvement in places. You're very close now though, so don't go making any dramatic changes

Good luck m8.
