Default Re: Managing company won't allow me to install dish

Thank you guys for all your advice.

I will try to get the neighbours sign something for me.

Actually, as an owner I am even one of the directors of the block and in one meeting I spoke to the other directors (mostly owners as well) and they didn't have any problem with me installing the dish.

actually, as I mentioned above, I am an owner of a share of freehold and if everyone in the block buys his/her share we can even get rid of this managing company all together. This company still owns a few of the shares.

On adding a second LNB, any one of you who knows a good company in London who would install the LNB's at a reasonable price with quality service?
I don't want to get just any one to do it and take the risk (however small it might be) to damage the current situation for the neighbours.
At the same time I am not quite keen to pay a fortune for it.

Thank

Buying out the management company sounds a great way of getting round the problem

Very Victor Kiam! (oops, really showing my age there...)

I can't recommend an installer in London, maybe one of the other members can.

Good luck m8. I hope your determination to succeed pays off.

After reading a bit more closely i think i know what your talking about now.

I'm guessing its a similar setup to the first ever property that i purchased when i was 19. It was a flat in my home town near my dads place. When the property was sold the owner of each flat automatically became a shareholder of a management company which looked after the block.

This company sorted out things like ground and building maintainance etc. etc.

If something needed to be done a vote was raised at a monthly meeting. I'm guessing its the same setup that you have. The only difference was that my flat was on a 1000 year free leasehold. Basically if all the owners in the block have no objection and you can get it in writting theroetically you can tell the management company where to stick their contract.

Its a case of :quote: The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few :quote: if you know what i mean.

If theres more agreements than objections i can't see what power this management company could have as they only have a minority vote.

I'm no lawyer but thats what i read out of the contract that i signed. I'm suprised i've still got it. I sold the property in 1998. Anyway mate i hope that this may give you a bit of encouragement to go and hastle your neighbours for their yes vote. Like i said though make sure its in writting and make sure its the legal registered owner that signs not his or hers partner.

You have to remember these companies are there to make money. They dont give a f**k about the people that live there. Don't let them get away with it. They're just worried that if your dish damages the building they will have to pay for some of the bill to put things right.
