Default Twin receiver configuration

Hello there once again,
I am still trying to finalise my definite set up requirement so here goes with another couple basic queries! This is what I have decided on so far(I think):
2 Technomate 1500 receivers
Triax TD78 80cm dish
Triax 20 degree multibracket (so that I can add LNB's in future if required)
2 Titanium twin output LNB's pointed at Hotbird and Astra 1
My first question is as I want to install receivers downstairs and upstairs respectively so that they can be run independently of each other(I have been put off cheaper idea of video sender due to reliabilty feedback and only being able to watch same signal transmitted- hence extra receiver option) would I require 2 seperate disecq switches to run 2 cables or would a cable splitter do?

Secondly I also intend to get a one year Art Sport card so with above configuration would I be able to watch footie on different Art sport channels at same time upstairs/downstairs or would I need 2 cards?

Finally on subject of cards, I take it activation starts on insertion into receiver not on purchase as I probably won't be installing for quite a while yet!

Apologies once again for my lack of satellite knowlegde ! ops:

You would need two DiSEqC switches, one for each receiver.

You would also need two ART sport cards as well unless you go for the Diablo solution (which is not much more than another card).

You can find details of that here: _http://www.hisat.com/twp/prod_detail.asp?ID=718

though I don't recommend that particular company at all.

ART cards are activated upon insertion to an official Viaccess receiver. It's reported that this activation process doesn't work correctly in many unofficial receivers.

Some firms will therefore activate your card for you upon dispatch, if requested.

Hi Stick,
Thanks for prompt reply!
If I bought a single card would I be able to interchange it between receivers at my leisure or not?

Yes, once activated.

I'm not 100% sure, but I wouldn't expect the ART cards to work in your boxes without them being patched. Technomate certainly don't advertise the fact that they're Viaccess enabled out of the box, but patching is no big deal. You'll need a null modem cable though.

For patching? Yes.
