It was a freebie. My mate owed me for some work i did on his mini.
![]() Best to find places that make elecronics/electrical enclosures. They usually have their own facilities. A quick shout over the fence to the nightshift workers usually does the trick. ![]() I managed to get the wheels off my old mini done the one night for £40. they looked like new when they came out. ![]()

SMW stuff is excellent (professional) quality kit, but there's no way that's going to be any kind of match for your dish unless you are dead jammy.
The feed horn looks very long, and the whole lot looks very large. The bigger the area you block out with the LNB, the less signal you're going to collect. Don't forget, this is not like an offset dish. With an offset, the LNB is not 'in-the-way' of the incoming signal, whereas with a prime-focus (i.e. LNB in the middle, and not slung underneath) the LNB will cast a signal shadow on the center of the dish face and therefore reduce the overall performance of the dish system. I would go for a small universal LNB like the ALPS or the Inverto silver-tech, or even better, the Inverto white-tech. I would only go for a separate feedhorn where there is one made for your specific dish, or where an after-market part is proven to increase performance on a particular dish. I see that seller has some very interesting stuff for sale, and cheap starting prices too. The Channel Master LNBs look nice (and very small too, like the alps) but at 0.8dB they are all a bit noisy. I still might be tempted though. I see he also has the excellent Channel Master 90cm dish for sale. The smaller 70cm dish probably isn't worth it, but if anyone can get this for under £40 delivered, then they've done VERY well ![]()

Well i finally got it set up this evening and spent a few hours having a look around.
![]() I spent most of the time looking around 5e to 5w. I managed to get a great signal off AtlanticBird 3 92% Quality and 89% strength. I tried to get 30W but as i thought i couldn't as there was a house in the way of the line of sight. ![]() I couldn't really find much on Thor and Sirus but i will look back again when a patch becomes avaliable to let me see the encrypted stuff. On these 2 birds signal was around 70% with much the same strength in quality. ![]() As i didn't have loads of money to chuck at a C120 LNB and feedhorn so i rigged a Philips SX1019 LNB (purchased of ebay for £1.04) onto the holder using rivets, thin strips of steel and a jubilee clip. I think the lnb could be quite old now as they are no longer made by Philips, although even though it looks like one off a minidish i have confirmed that it is for use on a standard round dish. They are now manufactured by Skyware. I set it up using an equation i found on this forum F = ( D * D ) / ( 16 * c ) Focal length = F Depth = C Diameter = D It worked a treat. Hopefully i will have a lot of fun with this dish over the next few months. ![]() Nano

Nice work Nano.
A patch isn't going to help at 5E or 1W really, but don't let me spoil your day ![]() That's fine dish setup you have now.

What no patches for 1w and 5e , well thats pi**ed on my bonfire, Pardon my French. Pity that. I was sure that someone was on about Conax being open a few years ago. I know its pretty much secure at the moment but you can always live in hope.I am starting to find more stuff that my receiver can open up, 95% is mostly Viaccess however it has opened up a few bits and pieces encrypted in Seca and Nagravision although nothing to write home about. :? I am managing to get most of the TPS and Multivision stuff on 13E Most of the MTV, VH1 and Nick stuff on 19.2E and MCM Belgique on 5W. I'm suspecting though that this wont last long. ![]() I am considering getting a subscription for TPS through my mother in law who has a property in France. I haven't stopped watching it since getting my new receiver. It works out about £20 a month which is definitely better value than that thieving bastard Murdoch. I unfortunately missed the Canal+ > , it seems to be locked up tight again, I have confirmed this by checking with another forum that i frequent for infomation. You know which one i'm talking about.

Telenor on 1W encrypted in Conax was available, but it wasn't because Conax was hacked, it was due to a leaky card issue. Once they rolled out new cards, the source for the keys dried up.
TPS has been open for a very long time. They keep tweaking it, but it's always open again within days if not hours. Nagravision is the other encryption type that's publically hacked. Premiere and Digital + are regularly open for short periods when someone decides to release the keys. SECA2 is also wide open again, but only as a commercial hack on the K3 card. Hopefully this will be released to the public in the future. Most of 5E is in NDS now, so you can forget that. I remember not too long ago when that lot was open as well (before it went NDS).
