![]() If i remember rightly when i first had Sky Digital it came with the old light blue card which was replaced about a month later with the DK blue yellow house one. I heard that this was due to security issues with the previous version of the NDS encryption system. No idea how much truth there is in it though. :? The way i see it the more Satellite broadcasters switch over to NDS the more likely it is that it will eventually be cracked. It would **** all over Murdoch's plans for world domination. Nothing these days is infallible. I dare say when Viaccess, Seca and Nagravision came out for the first time everybody said they were bullet proof. look how long it took before all of those were cracked. Its happened with all the other encryptions eventually its got to happen to NDS. ![]() I know that you can get emulators i.e Dreambox and i think it was the Dragon cam to read and use the information off a Sky NDS card. It cant be long before the card wont be needed at all in my opinion. ![]() Nano

Well, many folks say that the current system was cracked a long time ago. For teams to be able to produce a working NDS emulator says a lot.
Whenever NDS think that there is a serious public threat to the integrity of the system they have a new firmware/card rollout ready to go. That's almost certainly what happened with the last card swapout. It costs a lot of money to issue new cards, so they don't do it for no reason. Now, they are rumoured to have at least two more generations ready to roll should any hack for the current system go public. There is no way that NDS would stay open for very long at all. The main thing (I believe) that is preventing any public hack is that Murdoch is more powerful in this respect than any other entity on the planet. No individual, company or indeed government would be prepared to throw as many resources at bringing tha hammer down on sat-hacking miscreants as Uncle Rupe. People could, would and have been banged up as a direct result of Sky/NDS applying pressure in the right places. I also think it would be disastrous for the hobby in general if NDS were laid bare. Every major community site would shut down. Either because of the fear of going to prison, or with the flood of several million non-hobbyists clamouring for free Sky TV. Can you imagine? It would make the ondigital free-for-all look like a queue for ice cream ![]() Just my opinion of course! ![]()
