Default channel break up

Hi folks, I'm having trouble with some channels on 28.2, some break up on some channels and sound only on others
can't get ITV four, is this normal or do I need to tweak the dish.
Example: ITV 3 has 75% signal strength and at its peak about 50% quality with break up.

Can you use a Sky dish with another receiver to pick FTA?

Sounds like your dish just needs a minor adjustment.

How old is it?

If it's getting on a bit, then it could be the LNB starting to break down, but more than likely just a little tweak will do it.

Your minidish will be fine with any other FTA receiver on 28.2E, but only for FTA channels, and not FTV of course.

Can I offer some thoughts? I kept losing sound on ITV2 and found that scanning the transponder again brought it back. You could try to re-scan ITV3 and ITV4 and see if that helps.I also had some breakup caused by a digital cordless phone in the house interfering with certain frequencies (see the thread called "Funny Signals" containing very helpful information which might give some clues).

The other thing to try is in line with Stick's advice - tweak the dish a little - there won't be much in it. I found that the new Fortec dish I have pointing to 28.2 had a far inferior mounting to my original dish and when I tightened up the bolts, that process actually moved the dish a little sideways. I solved it by getting it pointing nearly at 28.2E and, having worked out which direction it moved when tightening the bolts, I was able to use the spanner which altered the tension on the bolts to "fine tune" it, so to speak. It's a bit of a nuisance when you think all is finalised, so I wish you the best of luck and a little bit of patience.

This probably sounds obvious but it could also be your lnb breaking up.

The lnb on my sky dish caused me all sorts of problems. After i replaced it for the second time everything worked perfectly, all my signal strengths and quality returned to the normal level.

Just one or two things to check.

Is there any trees or green stuff in line of sight of the dish. If the dish was set up in the winter it may have had good line of sight but as the leaves return this disappears somewhat.

Is there an action man stuck in the downpipe of your roof guttering causing torrents of water to flow over you dish & lnb every time it rains. Yes that happened to me. Oh the shame!!!

Is there any water ingress into the cabling to the lnb. :?

I've had all these problems, so its worth checking it out. If its happened to one person it can happen to everyone. (Bar the actionman problem )
