Default Murdoch: BT mustn’t give it away

Murdoch: BT mustn’t give it away

BSkyB chief executive, James Murdoch, has warned BT Vision: "If they want to just give away all of the expensive programming out there, that ends in a very scary place for them." Speaking at the Royal Television Society, he also turned his attention to the BBC and its iPlayer: "I think that whenever we see new services coming out of the state ... it's something that needs to be considered very, very carefully. It's important for the competitiveness of the industry and the future of innovation of this industry."

Murdoch said sky customers would be able to get all their on demand needs over one broadband connection by 2007-8. He also said the security flaw which led BSkyB to suspend its broadband download service, which allowed users to watch films and sports clips, would soon be sorted and would not stop Sky.
