Default Tuner sensitivity

I thought dreamboxes were supposed to have sensitive tuners??.

Well my 7020S is bloody awful - the Technomate and the Echostar run rings round it. I cant get a sniff of the Fox Sports tp on 16E - the Echo at least has a go at displaying it even though it breaks up badly. :?

Also every time it rains I get really bad picture breakup and jitter. By 11pm last night it got very close to being ebayed - it was pouring with rain and every satellite on all images was totally unwatchable. (5E / 13E / 16E / 19E - so not as if I was trying to watch underpowered weaklings)

Not impressed.

The 7000 tuner is quite deaf, the 7020 better - but they're certainly not known for having sensitive tuners.

I don't have any problems 99% of the time, and if I need to squeeze a weak signal out of the sky, I use my SS2. It's not the best but it's OK.

Your problems do sound a bit extreme. I've never lost 13E or 19E in any weather on my TD88, but then it never rains down here

You cant go by the readings given as % snr and agc. My Dreambox 7000 always shows a much lower value than my Echostar but gives a better picture.

In your case I dont think it is the receiver so much as the dish alignment if all sats are poor. Or you have a faulty or poor tuner.

Well Ive found That its not lack of signal causing the problems. I had 90% + signal on all 4 dishes last night - and total break up on all channels on 3 images (Enigma / Pli / Gemini) Im putting the DB back to its out of the box configuration to see if that fixes it.

Which sat and channels? Or is it all.
Do you have a poor signal quality?

When its playing up its all channels on 5E / 13E / 16 E / 19E.
I was getting total pixellation and break up with 90%+ strength and quailty.

Of course its working fine today...... Wierd

Mmmm, that's not right. What do you get on the image in flash? Is that still the stock image?

Sounds like this is a software problem.

Give us some more info. FTA OK?

That IS the fta channels! Im not too worried about anything else at the moment - I want to get the box stable before I start footling around with much else

Gemini still on the internal flash. Ive been playing with Gemini and PLi on the flash/pen drive.
At the moment it seems to be ok, but its a fine day and the suns shining......
