Default Dish overload and Camouflagetastic

On my travels in the last few days, I've spotted a couple of noteworthy satellite setups :

Is there no hope for me?

Anyway, a couple of intersting shots, I think.

The first is an example of unnecessary clutter. One dish would have done all this - two at most. Plan ahead! In this case, it's also the difference between legal and illegal.

The second is a great example of reducing the visual impact of a dish. If you have to mount it at the front of your house, then why not paint it?

Even if you have unpainted brickwork, a coat of brick-coloured paint will tone down its appearance and keep you onside with both your other half and/or your neighbours.

You are getting sad.

The dish might be camouflaged but house sticks out a bit.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, even the forum engine suggest starting a new thread but I must be difficult

I am a strong believer in aesthetics (if can be bothered that is ) and really like the blue dish, not the colour but the thought. so here goes my outcry for useful input from all. I want to know:

1. what paint? I know non-metallic seems to be the answer but why, you paint it with metallic and it'll be the same dish, ok, the extra 50 nanometres will change the position of the focus by err... insignificant number.

2. on many painted dishes I saw, no one seems to paint the pole, LNB holder arm and LNB itself. WHY?

3. transparent dishes. had one in my possesion, was disappointed, not transparent enough However, it may be just transparent enough for the birds to ignore it as they fly through :roflmao: which is kinda handy if you're poultry gourmand (pardon my French ). Have any of the transparent dish owners had any problems with birds, you know which ones I mean.

and thank you.

was thinking about this today as i was going to spray paint my andrews dish and was wondering what colour would work against red brick

satellite dishes don't bother me at all but why do people have to make a big deal about them

mine is in full view to people but its out of site of the main roads where, i live due to it being at the back and the positioning of neighbouring houses

well, it's always nice to be nice to neighbours. and in some cases the dish is an eyesoar
I live among little stone cottages and wouldn't want to be referred to as that guy with a moving dish that sticks out and stops the traffic

the colour I am looking for is blue welsh slate, if i decide to put my white triax on the roof and a stone colour in case I stick it on the wall.

The clear dish would be less intrusive, but this means buying a new dish.

In your case, wod, I would be tempted to paint the dish in the brick pattern. Did you see that ad about dulux paint? just remove one of your bricks and bring it to the shop they'll match it. Wait! I solved my blue slate problem

I once had a neighbour who claimed that radiation from my dish is killing him and his cat.

Perhaps the 'once had' means it did kill them? :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
