Anyone have any musical knowledge? If so perhaps you can answer this question:
Why does the Grampian ident (first one on the youtube clip) sound horribly flat about a third of the way in? Is there a key change or something.

I lost all interest in TV idents when they took the potters wheel off BBC.

Had a listen to the Grampian ident and it doesn't actully go flat about a third through, but there is an electronic sound underneath the basic theme tune which is "scooping" in a downward direction - not unlike the synthesised sound in the old "Dr. Who" signature tune. From a musician's point of view and one who tunes pipe organs, the overall effect does, I admit, sound as if the tune is about to collapse - but it's all deliberate. Think it was meant to be ever so slightly humourous.

Nah theres nothing humourous about Grampian TV.
I had to endure it for 8 years, aswell as Northsound Radio. ![]() Could explain why i have kids now when i always said i didn't want any. Had to do something when there was nothing on the TV. ops:Mind you i do often miss "Chewin the Fat" and "Still Game". I now you can get BBC Scotland on Sky but i never seem to notice when its on.
