Default Yet another salvaged dish

The tv aerial guys were in at my workplace on Friday trying to sort TV reception in one of the classrooms. Watching the chap wandering around on the roof of the PE block waving a small aerial around and watching his meter whilst trying to get a signal off Selkirk was quite comical (I could have told him it was hopeless - theres a bloody big hill between the transmitter and the school!)

Anyway, having decided terrestrial was out he decided a Sky box was the only answer (Id have used the Galashiels transmitter but I wasnt asked..... :?)

There happened to be an old 80cm pressed steel dish on the roof which the tv rigger removed and used its old wall mount for the new sky digital dish (quite why he didnt just swap the lnb over )

So with a redundant dish heading for the junk heap I grabbed it and slung it in the back of the car. It appears to have one of the old blue cap lnb's on it, plus an lnb rain shroud which Ive never seen before.

The dish is bright white... missing its azimuthal but it can be propped up on a car tyre for experiments or maybe I'll nick the mounts off one of the not so good dishes.

Im thinking of using it as a trial for a spray painting experiment - its got to be toned down a bit and a nice dark green would be so much better... Lets see this will be dish #10 in the collection!

One day you're going to see an old 80cm dish in a skip and keep on walking - and we'll all drop down dead of shock :roflmao:

I know where there's some nice blue paint going spare...

Hehe, see SWMBO has kicked you out of the house at last. Wouldn't even let you have a decent size TV to watch the footy.

The dish face is actually in really good condition - its certainly the best 80cm Ive got in thats it not warped - all the others have seen better days. Maybe I swap the mounts over from the white dish for one of the heavily warped dishes over the summer.
Im thinking about ripping out the entire dish system and starting again anyway once the weather gets a bit warmer.
