Default Football Feeds

Hey yet another question for you guys! :

I've been looking at various sites and have seen people talking about premiership football feeds being on 16e. I just wondered what sort of equipment i would need to pick up these. I currently have a 60cm dish and a sl65 silvercrest lidl receiver. I'[m guessing i will probably need a bigger dish!

Cheers

80cm - 100cm for all the weaker stuff on 16E. The W2 transmission powers are all over the place.

Nothing to stop you trying though. See our feeds section just before the games kick off (or any other time Sid or anyone else is posting). You can even have a go at feedhunting yourself with the SL65's blind scan facility

Have a read of Sid's how-to in the feeds section.

I used to get a little bit of 16E on my 60cm dish.

The feed post will normally indicate if the transmission is FTA or Enc(oded). If it says 4:2:2 it means that the video format cannot be unravelled by your receiver. This is a professional format which can only be viewed with an appropriately specified device.

Most Premiership feeds are now encoded, but sometimes you get lucky.

Make the most of it - once they merge with Canal Plus you can guarantee they will be secured down tighter than a nuns knickers....

I read recently that one of the conditions written into the merger contract (...and stipulated by the French Government no less) was that the two broadcast systems had to remain 'as-is' - i.e. no merging of encryption technology.

If that's true, then the above scenario will not be a problem - but it IS only a matter of time before TPS upgrade to something secure, or rather switch off the broken bits.
