Just to throw a tangent in here (could turn out to be a straight line!). With the PVR and dual LNB setup in my country, we can watch two separate channels whilst recording a THIRD! How is this possible (3 signals, 2 lnbs)?

Depends if they're part of the same transport stream [off the same transponder?] - if so, the PVR could be being clever enough to take two streams from one TS and watch them, or record one/watch one. Or more than two, of course, depending on I/O load on the box.

Tripleplay UK, who make IPTV head-ends, have the ability to do this, which reduces the number of servers required for a hotel installation, for example. Also, Mythtv [www.mythtv.org] has a branch of the source code which can do this at the moment, hopefully to be merged back in sometime soon.
