Welcome to the forum Clive.

I assume that you have a motorised sat dish and you have a clear field of view around to 30 west. Which other sats can you get at present and what size is your dish?

Ok Clive, it looks as if you are ok for most sats and unless there is something in the way, you should be able to find Hispasat at 30 west.

My favourite channels for finding that sat is TV Galicia.
If you tune your receiver to frequency 11811 V 27500 and move your dish west you should get that channel and be able to align the dish for max signal.

If you cant get it, then there is something in the way, or your dish arc is not quite properly aligned. Give it a go and let us know how you get on.

I notice that you don't have anything else very far round on the western side.

See if you can find Telstar 12 at 15W along the way. A signal strength report for various transponders on this satellite would be useful too if you can find it.

I have tried to pick up Hispasat 1c/1d 30w satellite but with no joy.I cant even pick up Telstar 12 at 15W either.Do you think it is something to do with my dish not picking up the western satellites as my receiver seems to be working fine.

Yes, my guess would be that your mounting pole was either not set up vertically to start with, has moved slightly over time, that your due-south setup was not quite right or your combination of elevation/declination was wrong.

The most likely culprit is the first one - pole orientation.

What sort of mount do you have? Is it adjustable?

If it's one of the cheapo flat-plate items that just bolts to the wall, then you can sometimes get away with wedging a little bit of packing or washers behind one or other corner.

Whatever you do, you must get that mounting pole spot-on!

Have you read our guide?

This is also very handy for getting your head around the possible alignment issues that can cause partial arc reception:

I would always recommend an adjustable mounting system for motorised systems. The T&K brackets with a 2" steel mounting pole is favourite.

I think it could be the mounting pole. The guy put the pole into cement that I levelled with a spirit level to make sure was right but the dish could have moved of a bit.Now I can try and put some washers under one of the legs and just try adusting the dish slightly.

That sounds OK.

Spend whatever time it takes to get the pole spot on before you bother with anything else.

Let us know how it goes!

Your geographical location indicates that you should use Amos 4W as your reference satellite.
If you didn't then that could also be the cause.
