Default CAS Channels

Now I'm enjoying over 1000 channels over 3 satellites and all controlled by an electronic switch - no problem there. This time I'm going to ask a really stupid question. My Fortec box, under "Channel Manager" allows me to sort channels in alphabetical order, or transponder order. It also makes mention of sorting CAS channels - so here's the question - what on earth are they, can I get them and are they any use? I can also scan for "Data" but am not sure what kind of data I might be receiving.

CAS?

Conditional Access System :? In other words, encrypted channels.

Does this make sense in the context that you've seen it?

If I remember correctly, your Fortec doesn't have a CI slot. That leaves you with no options, as the patch that was released for your machine way back hasn't been updated for ages and now won't open anything.

A receiver upgrade is the only way to open any encrypted channels

Go for a Technomate 1xxx Series. There is still very good support with regard to patching them.

I have just retired my FortecStar Lifetime Classic FTA in favour of TM 1500CI+. I still intend to use my old fortec but only for setting up my dishes. I found it very useful as a signal meter. I still think its a great receiver for someone who is just starting out in the hobby.

I installed the last avaliable al7bar patch on it dated 01/04/2006 and just as Stick said I can confirm that you cannot get a b****y thing on it anymore. I have not found any newer patches for this model.
