Default BBC reveals plan to bid for live cricket rights in 2010

The BBC's head of sport, Roger Mosey, has revealed that the corporation is keen to bid for live cricket coverage rights in 2010 but believes the sport should follow the model used for football, where several broadcasters share the rights for live games and highlights packages.

"[Live rights] is something we're very interested in, but we don't want to take it on and then realise we can't schedule everything," he said.

"I'm a fan of the football model. Sky has live Premiership games; we have Match of the Day and live FA Cup games. ITV and Sky share the Champions League. The current cricket deal is on one platform only and it would be good and fair to see it on a multitude of platforms."
