Default Sky get ready to revamp websites

Sky Networked Media, BSkyB's multi-platform content division, has appointed Andrew Hawken to the new role of Editorial Director, Online, as it prepares to expand its web presence.

The expansion will be across a number of genres including news, entertainment, travel and the arts.

Andrew Hawken, who will report to James Baker, Managing Director, Sky Networked Media, is currently Editor-in-Chief of the Microsoft-owned portal MSN.com, where he also holds the title of General Manager, MSN Portal Experience.

Mr Hawken will take up the new position later this month, overseeing editorial strategy for the development of Sky’s online assets. Key projects will include the redevelopment of Sky News' web presence as a dynamic, video-rich site that maintains the channel's record of innovation in the delivery of breaking news and information. The new Sky News site will launch in 2007.

Commenting on the appointment, James Baker said: "Andrew is an outstanding addition to the Sky Networked Media team. His experience in leading MSN's content strategy will be a huge asset as we develop an enhanced network of websites that deliver rewarding user experiences and increasingly valuable revenue opportunities."
