Default Another Film 4 problem...

Hello,

I have a Strong 6130 and 60cm dish.

I have no problems with any channel but Film 4 and Film 4+1.

Every few minutes the sounds will cut out. If it's a cloudy day then the picture freezes too.

I don't have this trouble with any other channels.

Any ideas?

JayBee.

Hi jaybee,

There is clearly something odd with the FilmFour channels ATM, and it looks to be of an intermittant nature.

All I can suggest is:

1) Sit it out and see what happens
2) Try upgrading the firmware in your receiver
3) Use a different receiver (one that's reported working)

FilmFour is working fine here still, video and audio - so it's not the stream. Can't test +1 yet (until 4:00pm when it fires up).

I learn something new everyday.

Being from an astronomy background I thought that setting up a dish required just alterations of azimuth and elevation but I just read about "skew".

I guess that has something to do with signal polarisation.

I rotated the LNB a little and now I get a much better quality signal, Film 4 is perfect and I get the Performance channel which I wanted but whose transponder I could never pick up.

Good stuff.

Not sure that was necessarily the cause of your problem, because there is some sort of intermittant funny-business going on with the FF stream right now, so don't rush straight out with the screwdriver if it goes off again

Yes, the microwave signal is either horizontally or vertically polarised on Astra 2 satellites. Other satellites employ left and right hand circular polarisation, but not much over Europe.

Great news anyway.

Are you sure we can't recruit you into the multi-satellite club?

Loads to see, and heaps of fun too.

Stick knows what hes on about. I only asked a question about an F- Connector and now i have 3 dishes,
(2 dishes fixed at 3 sats and the moveable one which is the big one out of the 3)
2 receivers and a wife that is threatening to cut my nuts off with a blunt knife if i buy anymore dishes.

Its rather addictive once you find your first satellite.

Ooh i just found out how to make big letters. Cool

The simple answer to that is not to BUY any more dishes - get them donated or find them instead Then your cobblers should be safe...

I wish. Me spending the money isn't the problem, Its the fact that the back garden is slowley starting to look like Goonhilly that is starting to nark her a bit. I think i may have to motorize my 80cm dish when i get the chance. That would probably keep her happy.

Could this problem with Film4 effect freeview viewers as well? It's just my Nanna has been having problems with Film4 this week ( in fact she's just got off the phone about it :) and I was wondering if this could have anything to do with it :?

Cheers,
Kev.

Well, not in terms of the satellite downlink of course, but it may be that there is a problem much further up the line. :?

I really have no idea about FilmFour on terrestrial Freeview as I can't receive it very well here >

Just as well really, or I'd be admin at ****tyFreeviewHelp.co.uk :roflmao:
