Default DB-7020S - emu/keys

Hello everyone
I am not sure whether this is the right place to post this thread.
I have bought a new DM-7020S a week ago and am struggling to set it. I have installed Gemini 3.10. I have a dialup internet connection. I have connected the DB to my computer with Eth cable via a hub/switch. I get connected on the dcc.

I have tried to download the emu by going to the blue panel - addons - download and install. Here I get a message saying " Addon (example (user addon.xml) download"
I press ok and nothing happens.

Also I have downloaded some cams from the site www.dreamboxworld.com but there I cannot find the .tar.bz2 files which is required to be sent to the DB via DCC. I have the file in winrar format.

Can somebody help me.

Tks

Hello m8. Welcome to the forum!

You need a standard patch cable to both the PC and the Dreambox if you're connecting the two via a switch (unless your switch is auto-sensing), and a crossover cable if you go directly (i.e. not via a switch). I assume that this side of things is OK if you're connecting to the Dreambox via DCC without any problems.

Can you see the Dreambox web interface from the PC by entering it's IP address, or ping it from the command line too?

Are you using Windows XP?

I assume you are, and I think that your problem may be that you haven't enabled ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) on your dialup connection properties. You will need to do this to enable the Dreambox to see the Internet by using your PC as the gateway.

I believe that ICS also includes a little DHCP server, although I personally prefer to set the Dreambox IP (and everything else) statically.

Do you have DHCP ticked in the Dreambox network setup menu? Otherwise, are you happy that you've got the IP addressing setup correctly with the first three octets the same as your PC? Do you have the address of the PC plugged into the Dreambox as the gateway address?

If all the above checks out, it's probably the Gemini server that's having a kip.

Downloading is a lot easier than installing by hand, so stick with it. Do you have an FTP client installed on your PC? What about Flashwizard? Can you FTP/Telnet into the box?

You need to get online whatever, but we can walk you through manual emu setup too. You can do that from the Dreambox menu itself.

HTH

Tks Stick for your prompt response.

1) I have the following config on my comm menu (b-t-w I am not at home now but at my work place. I am 90 pct sure these are the values added in my db and pc)

DB
192.168.1.6
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1
192.168.1.1
DHCP = not ticked (off)
Network = ticked (on)

PC
192.168.1.10
255.255.255.0
Gway: 192.168.1.6
(I will reconfirm these settings once I am home)

When using DCC, when connected the RED line turns to green line between, PC-DB-Switch.

2) I tried the web interface by pressing the front down button and putting the DB on from behind but I get "STOP" and DHCP (no IP address).
So, had to flash the image through a null cable.

3)Yes am using XP. (internet connection is through dialup - the speed is quite slow at times)
4)Yes, Internet conn sharing is ON as there is another computer using internet through the same switch. (two computer + DB connected through a switch/hub) - how do I know that the DB is connected to internet??

5)How do I change the setting about what you say as "ICS also includes a little DHCP Server...."??

6) DHCP ticked OFF, network ON, well the PC ip add not plugged in the DB Gateway - (I will recheck and confirm but I am sure the DB Ip add is in the PC Gateway.)

7) How to check on the Gemini Server?
8) Yes, I have Flashwizard, DCC, Dreamup,

9) M8, pls tell me what else I would required to open some Adult channels.

Tks again for bearingup with me.

Kind Rgds

Hi supermario, welcome to the forum and to the dreambox world. You are in for some fun.

Firstly I would strongly recommend that you get a usb memory stick. I suggest a 256 MB stick. The reason for this is that you can play with different images on the usb and not mess up the flash image by doing something silly. With a usb stick, you can also use images made for the 7000 and there are a lot more of them.

Going back to your internet question, it sounds as if your switch is actually a router to which your network is connected. In your IP list you have shown the DB gateway as 192.168.1.1 which would normally be a router IP. If you are actually connecting the DB via the PC, then the gateway should be your PC IP.

The easiest way for you to update emus and keys with a dial up modem connection is for you to download the files to your pc and install them manually. However, the way keys are changing, you would have to update very frequently which would take the fun out of it.

If you download a file, you unzip it to get the ***.tar.gz file and you put that in /tmp on the dreambox. Use the image manual install to put the files in the right place.

Firstly, don't worry about the DHCP server included in ICS. You don't appear to be using it, but statically defining your IP's instead. That's fine.

If you have a second PC sharing the modem connection already, check the settings you have in that PC. Similar settings will be required on the Dreambox, but allocating the Dreambox a different primary IP obviously.

If you're running ICS, I think it forces the IP address of the computer sharing the connection to be 192.168.1.1.

That's the gateway address, and should be included in the Dreambox as well as both your PCs.

Assuming that's the case, all your Dreambox settings are correct, as defined in your post.

The details you give for your PC look wrong in that case. they will probably be:

IP address 192.168.1.1
Mask 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1

The gateway address is important here. It should be the same too.

I don't understand what you're doing with the front down button thing. Just type 192.168.1.6 into your web browser and hit enter. The Dreambox runs a little HTTP webserver on port 80 which you can access from the LAN/WAN.

Your modem dialup will be fine in my opinion. You'll just have to have a little patience. None of the emus or keyfiles etc. are large, and will download in a minute or two. It'll be no slower than downloading it from the website you mentioned and installing it manually, although that works just as well using the /tmp file method as Jim says.

As far as checking if your DB is connected to the Internet, forward port 80 on your gateway PC to the Dreambox (192.168.1.6), and try accessing your Dreambox web interface by using the dynamic IP address assigned by your ISP for the current dialup session, or use a service like DynDNS. Do this from your PC web browser too.

Using the IP address from your dialup connection will force the request to go externally instead of taking a shortcut across your LAN using 192.168.1.6.

Try pinging the Gemini servers from your PC, or use a different image on your Dreambox (USB stick is a must-have) which will use different servers. Server idents are in the config somewhere, but I must say that they might be tricky to find, or even be encrypted these days. I can't remember.

Once you get your Dreambox setup properly, you will have plenty of Adult channels, as well as everything else.

We'll help you setup the fine detail once you get your box connected to the Internet

TPS is open currently. Keybundles change weekly, so I don't find it a problem. I love changing keys as It teaches me a lot about how the encryption systems work, and how the emulators function internally.

Not everybody's cup of tea. Apparently, some people like to watch TV as well! :roflmao:

If you want the easy life, and to be able to watch every channel under the sun, then buy a card and share it.

Hope this helps.

Just plug it in, and then format it with Flashwizard Pro V6.3.

Flashwizard will then let you load an image onto it and install a multi-boot loader on the Dreambox so that you can switch between installed images easily at boot time.

It's really simple to use the software, just follow the instructions provided with it.

Let us know if you run into problems, and hang onto that stick just in case. A real good beating with a stick can work miracles

SM Ive not long bought a 7020, and playing with the flash drive is wonderfully simple. Go for it - its much safer than risking corrupting the onboard flash when you are playing!

hi guys
I still could not solve the problem of adding emu/cam to my db.
I go to Blue-panel - Addons - download and install - I get a ERROR! - Can't resolve hostname (URL:http//download.blue-panel.com/gemini/7020/0310/addon.xml).

I also tried manual installation - download the Camd3 and sent to DB via DCC but still I cannot activate is manually. I dont know when I am going wrong.
