I'm having a bit (well, maybe a lot :
) of trouble setting up my motorised dish. The info I have from Sat Superstore say's set the motor to 34 degrees and set the dish adjuster so that the adjusting nut is about half way along the threads (this gives a dish angle of around 27 degrees). Got the satfinder connected up and the receiver on 1 west. However, I'm not picking up any sort of signal ( 60% signal strength, 7% signal quality) no matter where I move! Tried moving the whole lot on the pole and the dish up and down but still no luck :?. Also their was no info with the dish regarding the offset angle of the dish, how would this effect things? Oh, and the info that came with the motor for my latitude (54) states: ELEVATION ANGLE: 55.61 DECLINATION: 7.11 Any idea's guy's, I've been up and down them ladders more times than soft Mick ![]() Cheers, Kev.

Hi Kev.
Can't lay my hands on a manual for your Jaeger 128 ATM, but have a careful look on the mounting bracket and see what the scale says. A photo would be best. Is there a scale on both sides of the bracket? Are they different? What is the range of numbers shown and which way do they run? If you cant get a photo, a quick sketch will do. I've got a sneaky feeling that you have to read the numbers backwards on some Jaegers : Don't ask me why! :roflmao:Is your latitude exactly 54 degrees? If you give it to me exactly I'll confirm your elevation and declination angles. STICK

Below is a photo of the side of the motor, with the dish to the left. It is marked up the same both sides.
My location is: Lat 54.6528, 39.2 north I've had another go tonight but still got now't :?

Let me have a rummage and I'll get back to you. I took out your longitude, as it nails your location very precisely.

OK, I've not set one of these Jaegers up before, but your actual satellite elevation angle should be around 27.7 degrees. That leaves you with an indicated elevation angle of 35.5 degrees (on the motor body) and a declination angle of around -7.7 degrees. That's how much your dish has to point down relative to the motor.
Based on that, the Satellite Superstore figure doesn't seem too far out. I'm not familiar with the adjustment scale on the Andrews 1m dish. Does it have a similar sort of angular scale to the motor body?. I still can't find a manual for your motor either > but it should contain a calculation to tell you what angle to set on the dish scale. I believe that for the Jaeger 99 this is (50 degrees - declination angle) which for you would be 42.3 degrees (on the dish). Can you have a look in the supplied manual and report back?To help with your azimuth setting, the sun should be in line with Thor at 1W at 11:46am GMT, 12:46 BST at this time of year. Hope this helps. Good luck, and keep going! You'll get there in the end ![]() STICK

hi m8,from what i see from bracket your dish looks to high up.if im right lower it down.im about 50 miles from you so your dish should look like mine for angel.have a look here.
http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...ic,1159.0.html this should give you how the angels look.if you have your dish face level with the pole in the ground, take the dish face up a small bit for signel on 1 west.use a compass to find 1 west, this will be your true south facing.now when you have found 1west mark off with a marker pen where it is for refference 2 go back 2.there should be a bolt that will undo for you 2 swing the dish from east to west(ie left 2 right)undo it.now you should here the satellites from your sat meter as you swing your dish from side to side by hand.remmber 1 west sits a small bit high in the ark as to find other sats.so if you have no other signel when going east 2 west.lower the dish from 1 west just a small bit.use this as a frequence for 1 west bbc world 11325h 24500.once you have a pic here on your satellite receiver start looking for other satellites. sid ps the bigger dish from pic 2 in link |

I'm not at all sure how the threaded bar that's used on the Jaeger 128 to adjust declination would indicate an angle, regardless of what the dish angle was set to? :?

hi m8 being channel master i would think the poler mount the same make as mine.i know on mine with a jack arm goes to the poler mount.there is a nut & bolt on the poler mount that will free the dish for swinging east 2 west along the clark belt.i take it the Jaeger uses a poler mount?as iv not used 1 of these before.if there pole mounting then its different 2 set up.for me my angle is about 30.be a bit different as he is a bit more north than me.
