Manual scan on 11307 V 27500 2/3 gives the following

SNR : 71%
AGC : 80%
BER : 65520

No Lock , No Sync

No services returned.

This is all new to me but it sounds like the error rate is high.
Could this be the LNB , receiver, cable or both ?

The BER should be zero, or very close to it. That is way too high and explains your lack of channels.

IMO it's your dish/LNB. I would guess dish alignment. Failing that, swap your LNB.

Hi,

Thanks for all the help so far, took a couple of days off from doing this ... actually SWMBO had me repairing washing machines !!

Still not narrowed the problem down completely, although more testing reveals that there is no LOCK / SYNC on the tp's that are being missed on the autoscan. Also on a manual scan it shows for example 1 Transponder scanned, 9 services found, none added.

Should a standard Zone 1 Sky dish be big enough ? I have tested the Dreambox on two other zone 1 dishes with similar results, one actually produced less working channels.

I have been advised to get a Zone 2 Sky dish, would this be good enough ? or should I be going for something bigger ?
Location is just north east of Newcastle upon tyne.

Might get a chance to test it on a bigger dish this evening which should prove that I have fault with my dish and not with the box itself.

once again, thanks for the help.

Hi FooFighter.

Having just re-read this thread, I'm a bit surprised that you guys are running with zone 1 dishes up in Newcastle :?

The whole problem seems a little strange to me. If zone 1 dishes are the norm there, then you would think the Dreambox would be OK on them. It would seem that there isn't a fault with your dish as such, based on the other dishes you've tested on.

I would definitely try on a larger dish. Can you not take it back to where you bought it and get them to test it on a larger dish for you?

I think we've covered most of the things that you hadn't tried, so if the larger dish doesn't fix it I would guess the tuner may be defective. Taking it back for a test would be a good way of demonstrating the problem to the seller. If you can't get a lock on certain transponders, then it's surely not to do with the firmware.

If you do take it back, you may want to revert to the standard Dream firmware, as dealers have been known to reject returns that have been 'tampered' with, even though they clearly know that's what you're going to do with it when they sold it to you.

If the tuner is just 'a bit deaf' then a larger dish may compensate, but it doesn't sound encouraging to me

Please let us know your results. I have to know now!

STICK

Just stumbled across this thread nearly two years on.

I have had the same problem and it was a faulty tuner only picking up certain transponders and not locking on others.

Default Newbie - Help getting channels

I have a similar problem where I get 90 odd transponder found but 0 services. Signal is around 70-80% and BER is 0. I'm using a spiderbox and everything works fine with my minidish on that for 28e.

however this box just doesn't get the services.... like I said transponders are found but no services.... any hints?

Have you chosen the correct satellite in satellite set up? also selected the correct LNB setting?

yes, astra 28.2e ....it definately picks up a signal on this sat as I can see SNR and AGC is around 70-80% and BER is 0.

98 Transponders found - 0 Services.

Wioth regards to LNB setup I'm not sure I tried the simple setup with default settings and I got the above results. I try messing around with the LNB numbers from the LNB 0 menu but have not been successful there. How would I know what my LNB settings should be?

Hi can anyone help me please!!
I have a dm500s and I can't get any channels. When I scan it, I found all the bskyb channels but when I go into the channel listing it's said there are no channels. Even set up sky bouquets.

Can guide me step by step please

if you scan it then they should be there and they wouldn't just dissapear like that.

When you go into your services menu for the channels you should be able to see all of them via pressing the red button... Unless you have used DB edit and FTP across... if that's the case then you never selected the correct receiver from the options on DB-edit.

I would also advice that you might want to flash it with a different Image and see what the results are.
