Top pic is looking west(ish) toward the slag bank (no, not that type of slag ), bottom pic looking about opposite to where the dish is facing now (you might be able to make Scotland out in the distance)...

And that's it with the photo's for now you'll be pleased to know

Hopefully I won't have to venture back up them ladders until after the winter Although she is pretty exposed up there so will take a bit of a battering from the wind : Time will tell whether she's up to it

Kev.

Hey, nice kit

Thanks for sharing your pictures Kev. Some of them are pretty good snaps.

I see you have some wind turbines on the horizon 8) You live in a lovely setting there.

Once you have your own 'proper' dish (as opposed to a Sky minidish) you will almost certainly become a little bit anorak-y and start to spot loads of nice dish setups that non-satellite folks would just look straight past!

:roflmao:

Nice setup mate. Perseverance always pays off in the end. 8)

I lived near Workington for a few months while i was working at Sellafield so i know how windy it gets up there. Mind you your installation looks upto it so it should last well over the winter.

I agree totally with Stick on this one.

I've just noticed that I've posted the same picture twice

Yes Stick, the wind turbines are slowly engulfing the area. I don't mind the ones on the coast but I think they should leave them out of the area toward the fells. The two biggest turbines (looking toward Scotland) have just gone up in the last month or so and are to provide power to the soon to be extended Eastman works. They reckon that when these turbines are running at their maximum output the tips of the blades will be turning at something approaching the speed of sound But overall it is a nice area to live

When were you up at sellafield Nano? In the Thorp days? I've spent about 13 years on site since I left school (17 years ago) and this stint has seen me spend the last 7 years there. This area (and me :'() would be bankrupt without it.

As for the set up, it does seem pretty solid, specially the mounting bracket which really is a tough piece of kit. The only problem I think I might have is with picture break up in really windy conditions. Just have to see how it goes.

I've already noticed another dish which I pass on the way to work in Whitehaven. It's next to a Sly minidish and looks like it's pointed toward hotbird.....

I'll get my coat

Cheers,
Kev.

I'm really torn on the wind-turbine issue. It's got to be the way to go but as you say, it has to be in a sympathetic location.

LOL, I'm having a bit of an off-topic moment. It's nice to talk about something other than bloody satellites for a change! :roflmao:

I've removed your duplicate pic
